<h2 class="h5">Job description</h2> <div class="t-break" data-jb-field="description"> <span><u><b>Job Summary</b></u> <br></span><p><span><span>To provide proper performance of functions involved in the safe, efficient distribution of medications, in accordance with relevant laws, rules, regulations and standards of pharmaceutical care.</span></span></p><br> <br><br><u><b>Job Responsibilities 1</b></u> <br><p><span><span><span>Reviews prescriptions to determine the appropriateness of medication therapy.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Processes both cash and insurance prescriptions.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Ensures the cash collection is secure and correct at all times.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Contacts insurance companies to resolve billing issues.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Properly handles controlled medications and prescriptions and ensures the controlled medication stock is correct and secure at all times.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Advises patient on the correct administration of drugs.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span>Monitors patient medication profile in order to prevent drug interactions, allergic and adverse drug reactions.</span></span></p><br> <p><span><span>Provides drug information and communicates with prescribers and other staff regarding drug therapy or safe drug handling.</span></span></p><br> <p><span><span>Performs patient teaching functions on appropriate use of medications.</span></span></p><br> <p><span><span>Performs quality control checks in accordance with departmental procedures.</span></span></p><br> <p><span><span>Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversees these activities.</span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Monitors and reports adverse drug reaction and medication errors.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Selects medications and alternatives.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Conducts orientation, training, and educational programs as required.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Conducts quality improvement tasks in conjunction with other staff members.</span></span></span></p><br> <br><br><u><b>Job Responsibilities 2</b></u> <br><p><span><span><span>Monitors and oversees that the Pharmacy is kept in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Performs all duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Performs all other duties as required or assigned.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Actively participates in the departmental Quality Improvement Program</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Actively participates in departmental motivational program to enhance patient / customer relations.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Introduces himself to the patient and explains the therapy at all times.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Supports hospital policies and serves as a professional role model for all staff.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Effectively communicates with colleagues, superiors, and all medical staff and maintains a positive attitude.</span></span></span></p><br> <p><span><span><span>Effectively communicates with patients and their families.</span></span></span></p><br> <br><br><b>Additional Responsibilities 3</b> <br><br><u><b>Job Knowledge &amp;
