Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates. Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful. Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence. Supports the processes for checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings. Ensure recognised engineering practices applicable to Offshore Structural design engineering are adopted. Prepares design specifications for Offshore Structural works. Prepare the production of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports and follow required checking procedures. Ensures that the documentation for the design remains accurate and current during the development of the design. Reviews the design to ensure that user's requirements are met. Ensures that the documentation for the design remains accurate and current during the development of the design. Conduct studies, analyses and recommend actions. Identifies opportunities to solve problems through applying engineering knowledge. Identifies professional risks, statutory responsibilities and liabilities. Ensures that the supporting documentation required to implement the design is accurate, concise, complete and clear. Prepares MTOs and BOQs. Must be available for offshore site surveys. Perform discipline specific engineering services such as:Identify and report changes to project scope;Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports;Must be available for offshore site surveys.<br>Quality Assurance<br><br>Work within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.<br><br>Safety<br><br>Responsible for personal safety and working within the Occupational Health & Safety procedures. Competent in implementing HSE in the design process, focuses on process safety and strives to use best practice.<br><br>Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training<br><br>Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage<br><br>Industry Specific Experience<br><br>Structural engineering experience in oil and gas for offshore projects Offshore Structural engineering experience in the industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams. Good knowledge of discipline design/engineering with sufficient experience in different discipline areas. Prior experience with marine and port infrastructure such as quay walls, jetties, dolphins and pavements would be preferred.<br><br>IT Skills<br><br>STAAD. Job Description<br><br>The Surveyor I is an entry or junior-level position for new graduates and/or those candidates with less than five (5) years of experience in an applicable industry. The Surveyor I, under a direct supervisor, performs work involving conventional surveying practices. The primary function is to develop the ability to effectively examine and report on vessels and other marine structures during and after construction relative to compliance with the applicable requirements for maintaining the vessel in Classification with ABS and meeting associated statutory and special service requirements related to Safety of Life at Sea, Loadline, Tonnage, Cargo Gear and Pollution Prevention Certification.<br><br>What You Will Do (with the assistance and guidance of an experienced ABS Surveyor):<br><br>Acts as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes. Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in the area of responsibility. Develops the skills necessary for the administration of office procedures and monitoring of business performance at an assigned port. The role of surveyor/auditor requires sufficient physical strength, stamina, agility, and both visual and auditory acuity to perform the listed duties effectively. The ability to climb vertical ladders up to nine meters and navigate steep steps is essential. Shall be capable of working at heights on various staging and lifting equipment. Shall be able to maneuver in tight spaces and work inside confined areas for extended periods, including kneeling and crawling. The role may involve exposure to industrial environments, potential injury risks, extreme weather conditions, and demanding physical activities. Shall be able to lift at least 25 lbs. / 11.34 kgs. The use of small tools and the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with ABS safety procedures, may be required. Job Description<br><br>The Senior Surveyor I is considered an intermediate to advanced level Surveyor position. The primary function is to examine and report on vessels and other marine structures during and after construction relative to compliance with the applicable requirements for maintaining the vessel in Classification with ABS and meeting associated statutory and special service requirements related to the Safety of Life at Sea, Loadline, Tonnage, Cargo Gear, and Pollution Prevention Certification. When necessary, responsible for administering office procedures and monitoring business performance at an assigned port.<br><br>What You Will Do:<br><br>Acts as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes. Performs routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms, or other marine structures and at manufacturers for classification and compliance with statutory requirements. Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed. Engages in contact with clients to resolve problems within areas of expertise. Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in the area of responsibility. Maintains an active awareness of new methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities and recommends changes in the surveying processes and safety programs as warranted by such developments. Recommends new approaches to problems encountered and makes changes in methods, procedures, or design where necessary. Plans, schedules, and coordinates various phases of surveying work and monitoring the quality of service on work performed. Monitors work and projects performed by subordinate surveyors to ensure maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed. Provides leadership, guidance, and training to lower-level and/or less experienced surveyors. Promotes the services and capabilities of ABS to present and potential customers. <br><br>What You Will Need:<br><br>Education & Experience<br><br>Qualifications from a tertiary institution within a relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum two (2) years program); or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer, and Minimum requirements & knowledge listed for Surveyor II. Minimum three (3) years of experience working as a Surveyor II. Understanding of ABS strategic technical positioning in their respective sector of the marine industry or Minimum eight (8) years of experience in an Engineering or Survey Capacity with an IACS member Classification Society<br><br>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities<br><br>Appropriate certification and/or licenses in areas of specialization may be required. Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy. Ability to read engineering plans and have a basic understanding of shipbuilding practices and vessel operations. Ability to perform surveys in the prescribed format. Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities. Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work. Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery. Ability to communicate in English, orally and in writing, pertinent information relative to assigned area of technical expertise. Ability to analyze problems and propose solutions. <br><br>Physical Requirements:<br><br>Where allowed by local laws, a pre-employment physical examination is mandatory. The role of surveyor/auditor requires sufficient physical strength, stamina, agility, and both visual and auditory acuity to perform the listed duties effectively. The ability to climb vertical ladders up to nine meters and navigate steep steps is essential. Shall be capable of working at heights on various staging and lifting equipment. Shall be able to maneuver in tight spaces and work inside confined areas for extended periods, including kneeling and crawling. The role may involve exposure to industrial environments, potential injury risks, extreme weather conditions, and demanding physical activities. Shall be able to lift at least 25 lbs. / 11.34 kgs. The use of small tools and the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with ABS safety procedures, may be required. Where allowed by local laws, the surveyor will be required to successfully complete an annual physical that will recertify that the individual can perform the physical actions required. <br><br>Reporting Relationships:<br><br>Will report to a Principal Surveyor or higher, under the direction of a Survey Manager or District/Country Manager as appropriate. The incumbent may supervise or provide leadership guidance to lower-level surveyors. Monitor design activities, inter-discipline data flow and communications<br><br>Procurement/Subcontracts Management<br><br>Set clear objectives for the procurement and subcontracts team. Assess procurement process throughout the project to ensure goods meet specification and are delivered on time and are within budget.<br><br>Construction Management<br><br>Set clear objectives for the Construction team. Monitor the Construction Management function to ensure safe delivery of the project within cost and schedule objectives<br><br>Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training<br><br>Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.<br><br>Industry Specific Experience<br><br>Prior experience must include significant project experience and successful project management.
