<h2 class="h5">Job description</h2> <div class="t-break" data-jb-field="description"> <p><strong>JOB SUMMARY</strong></p><br><p><span><span>Reporting to the Chair - Anesthesiology, the Division Chief – Pediatric Anesthesiology provides clinical, educational, research and executive management leadership for the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia. S/he enables and ensures the delivery of safe, effective and efficient anesthesia and related services to pediatric and selected adult congenital patients in Sidra Medicine and ensures these are of the highest standard commensurate with appropriate international benchmarks.&nbsp;</span></span></p><br><p><span><span>The Division Chief – Pediatric Anesthesiology is both a clinical and a managerial leader. S/he works with the Sidra executive team to develop and deliver strategy and business plans and is accountable for performance, quality, management of resources and sustainability in the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia. S/he integrates and prioritizes research and education activities with clinical service delivery. It is anticipated that the Division Chief will be able to continue with personal clinical educational and research activities albeit in a reduced and modified manner, and will have a full-time appointment to Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar.</span></span></p><br><p><span><span>Reporting to the Chair of Anesthesiology, the Division Chief – Pediatric Anesthesiology oversees the clinical operational and educational leadership for Pediatric Anesthesia services based in Operating Rooms and non-Operating Room sites in the Hospital. Clinical services include anesthesia, sedation, preoperative assessment, perioperative medicine, pain management and resuscitation support to areas throughout the hospital. The Division Chief ensures the delivery of high quality care with an emphasis on patient safety.</span></span></p><br><p><span><span>The Division Chief - Pediatric Anesthesiology works cooperatively with other teams within the department as well as with other stakeholders outside the department to ensure successful achievement of the clinical and academic goals of the department and organization. S/he provides oversight and is responsible for ensuring the appropriateness and quality of service and care is continually provided to all patients, their families and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards set down by Sidra Medicine (and applicable national standards) and includes appropriate monitoring of the quality of the care provided by the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia, working with the Department of Quality and Safety.
