<h2 class="h5">Job description</h2> <div class="t-break" data-jb-field="description"> <span><u><b>Job Summary</b></u> <br></span><p>To&nbsp;perform and provide analyses for low to high complex diagnostic testing in the relevant section.</p><br> <br><br><u><b>Job Responsibilities 1</b></u> <br><p>Actively participates in the technical and analytical work of the section.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Liaises with Supervisor on appropriateness of tests, results and additional testing as required.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Monitors, records, and reports back results, participating in discussion to rectify areas of concern if necessary.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either corrects the problem or notifies the supervisor.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Collects laboratory specimens and performs assigned laboratory procedures and other tests as necessary and immediately reports abnormal findings to appropriate staff. </p><br> <p>Verifies all critical results and documents with accurate follow-up. </p><br> <p>Performs appropriate documentation of laboratory procedures to assure the accuracy of laboratory records.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>In liaison with the Supervisor, ensures adequate stocks of reagents and consumables are available for the efficient running of the service.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Orders laboratory supplies, rotates stock and monitors expiration dates. </p><br> <p>Operates complex automated laboratory equipment, electronic equipment, computer software, and precision instruments.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>In liaison with the Supervisor, provides technical advice on, and assists in the selection / validation of new equipment.&nbsp;</p><br> <br><br><u><b>Job Responsibilities 2</b></u> <br><p>Takes responsibility for the maintenance and safe use of equipment within the section. </p><br> <p>Uses Laboratory Information System (LIS) to generate workload statistics, run queries and assess quality of data according to defined criteria.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Ensures policies and procedures for the sections are adhered to. </p><br> <p>Adheres to the Hospital standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies and procedures and documents all quality control activities.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Helps ensure the provision of a high quality, cost-effective service with the emphasis on quality assurance in all aspects of the section supervised by monitoring and audit of internal quality control.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Ascertains that quality control procedures are followed prior to releasing clinical data.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Participates in the external quality assurance schemes that the department subscribes to. </p><br> <p>Carries out corrective action as advised when the quality control procedures fail.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Assists in ensuring achievement of and maintaining CAP, JCI and ISO15189 standards in the section.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Maintains licensing and registration with Qatari authorities as a Biomedical Scientist/Technologist.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Participates in the implementation of new methodologies under the direction of the Supervisor. </p><br> <p>Participates in research and development as directed by the Supervisor.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Maintains open lines of communication with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective cooperation and consultation.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Communicates with colleagues within the department on a range of complex subjects.</p><br> <br><br><b>Additional Responsibilities 3</b> <br><br><u><b>Job Knowledge &amp; Skills</b></u> <br><p>Functional knowledge and clinical experience in Clinical laboratories.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Knowledge of and experience with Clinical laboratory safety and risks.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Knowledge of ISO 15189/CAP/JCI standards and guidelines.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Demonstrated strong analytical and decision-making skills.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite</p><br> <br><br><u><b>Job Experience</b></u> <br><p>Minimum 4 years’ experience in clinical laboratories as a licensed Clinical Scientist or Technologist (required)</p><br> <p>Minimum 3 years as a Technologist in a CAP or ISO15189 laboratory (required)</p><br> <p>Minimum 2 years in GCC (preferred)</p><br> <br><br><u><b>Competencies</b></u> <br>Agility<br>Sample Handling and Preparation L2<br>Laboratory Testing and Analysis L2<br>Regulatory Compliance L2<br>Data Analysis and Interpretation L2<br>Quality Assurance and Control L2<br>AI Fluency<br>Leadership<br>Quality<br>Resilience<br><br><br><u><b>Education</b></u> <br>Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering or any related field<br><br><br><br> </div>
