Role Description The Art Handling Technician is responsible for the safe handling, packing, unpacking, installation, and de-installation of artworks and related items. This full-time, on-site role based in Doha involves preparing artworks for transport, performing condition checks, and ensuring proper documentation and labeling. The technician coordinates closely with logistics teams on shipment schedules, assists with customs-related procedures for art pieces, and supports inventory management in storage areas. Daily activities include using appropriate tools and materials, maintaining clean and secure workspaces, and following strict safety and conservation guidelines. The role may also involve working at client sites, galleries, and exhibitions, and requires careful attention to detail and adherence to company standards. Qualifications Experience in art handling, including packing, crating, installation, and de-installation of artworks using appropriate materials and techniques. Knowledge of artwork care, basic conservation awareness, and safe handling practices for delicate and high-value items. Familiarity with logistics processes related to art shipments, including coordination with transport teams and understanding of customs and documentation procedures. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory, track items accurately, and maintain clear records and labels. Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely, with good manual handling skills and adherence to health and safety protocols. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external partners in a professional manner. The successful candidates will ensure all overhaul work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved maintenance procedures, railway standards, and HSE requirements while supporting the daily production plan and maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.<br>Qualifications & Experience Diploma, ITI, Trade Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Railway Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience in rolling stock maintenance, overhaul, railway, metro, light rail, or a similar mechanical/electrical industrial environment. Experience in mechanical and electrical fault finding and component overhaul. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance instructions. Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment. Ability to prepare accurate maintenance records and technical reports. Good understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) requirements, including safe systems of work, PPE, manual handling, and COSHH. Job description:<br><br>JOB PURPOSE:To perform a wide range of duties relating to the mechanical installation, repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment and fixtures to ensure their efficient operation at minimum downtime complying with EHS Guidelines with a focus on continuous improvement. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Tackles all mechanical equipment breakdowns and planned/preventive/predictive maintenance work with minimum direction and supervision within the given time constraint minimizing production downtime. Technically assesses the requirement of allocated jobs and selects the necessary tools and equipment to complete the work. Ensures that all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with the safety procedures and plant operational requirements. Using the computerized maintenance system (SAP), orders the spare parts from warehouse and maintains records of all maintenance work completed. Monitors any repeated breakdown and recommends/completes proper modification to resolve the problem. Identifies and reports any abnormalities. Initiates repairs/replacements/tests/ assembles worn out or failed components/parts. Reports to supervisor and takes necessary action to overhaul/replace parts, leaving the working area clean. Performs various works related to welding and fabrication. Mentors newly joined mechanics in order to equip them with the plant & equipment knowledge necessary to carry out maintenance work.
