Department: NUQ Journalism Program<br><br>Northwestern University in Qatar seeks an outstanding colleague for a full-time, open-rank faculty appointment in Journalistic Writing and Reporting, to be appointed in the Journalism and Strategic Communication Program. We welcome scholars with demonstrated experience in the production of professional journalism content across platforms and university-level journalism education, and with a robust record of journalistic production and/or research of their own. Preference is for candidates with a Ph. D. in a relevant field and with a research/publication record focusing on the Global South. Candidates are expected to have linguistic competence and field experience in their area of scholarship.<br><br>In addition to a demonstrated research record commensurate with rank, or a highly promising research trajectory for candidates with a recent PhD, applicants should show competence in working with global communities, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring, and dedication to institutional service and shared governance. Candidates are expected to contribute to both undergraduate and future graduate education and program development. Teaching expectations include two courses per semester, which may include core disciplinary courses, elective courses that speak to their research field, as well as contribution to NU-Q’s broader curricular needs. This could include the required “Ways of Knowing” course, the Doha Seminar honors course, graduate seminars, executive education classes, or courses qualifying for our university’s growing number of interdisciplinary minors, such as Africana Studies, AI and Media Studies, Film and Design, Media and Politics, Middle East Studies, and Strategic Communication. There are also opportunities to collaborate with NU-Q’s Institute for Advanced Study of the Global South, Artificial Intelligence and Media Lab, and Media Majlis Museum.<br><br>NU-Q is a community of evidence-based storytellers in the Global South. Conduct regular inventory checks; ensuring ingredients are up to quality standard, properly stored and used appropriately. Support kitchen staff through efficient food production and timely service. Prepare assigned workstations prior to service hours, ensuring necessary tools are readily available. Support the Four Seasons’ sustainability goals by minimizing food waste and conducting appropriate disposal of kitchen waste. <br><br>Preferred Qualifications And Skills<br><br>Degree/diploma in culinary arts/hotel management. 2 years of experience in a similar position with a luxury hotel or resort. Certified knowledge of food and personal hygiene practices. The ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality and a can-do approach to any task! The ability to perform this position to Four Seasons Standards is required. Candidates must have good personal presentation and interpersonal skills.
