Supervises the preparation, review, and quality assurance of academic staff contracts, Letters of Agreement, and faculty appointment letters, ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with institutional policies and standards. Develops and maintains process documentation, workflow improvements, and reporting mechanisms for faculty and clinical affairs activities. Ensures implementation of policies, processes, and procedures in alignment with WCMC NY. Applies knowledge of medical education systems in the U. S. and internationally to evaluate faculty credentials. Manages compliance with institutional, academic, and licensing standards throughout the appointment and promotion process. Monitors Clinical Affairs operations, including faculty Qatar Medical Licensure and clinical privileging processes with affiliated hospitals, while monitoring changes in relevant laws, regulations, policies, and institutional requirements. Facilitates the Qatar Internal Review Committee process, including case preparation, documentation review, and follow-up actions to ensure timely and compliant review of faculty appointment and promotion cases. Manages preparation of faculty appointment and promotion letters of recommendation for WCMC department chairs. Collaborates with assigned affiliated hospitals/institutions, the WCM-Q Office, the WCM Academic Departments, and the WCM Office of Faculty Affairs for all issues related to various faculty affairs initiatives and projects. Manages all requirements for Qatar medical licensing requirements for faculty members. Supports the delivery of promotion seminars, workshops, and training on academic staff policies and procedures, including preparation of CPD accreditation applications. Assists with grievance in handling matters and implements the process stipulated by the Academic Staff Handbook. Oversees system-related issues and contributes to website and intranet content development and updates. Participates in design and development of new systems related to clinical and faculty affairs. The role combines teaching, faculty development, research, and program innovation, while supervising professional staff and peer tutors. Working closely with the Director for Student Academic Success, the role contributes to institutional teaching and learning priorities.</p><br><p><b>This position is full-time, for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal. As it is based in Doha, Qatar and offers no relocation assistance, GU-Q is looking only for locally-based candidates who have a valid Qatar residence permit.</b></p><br><p><b> <u>Key Accountabilities</u></b></p><br><ul><li>Coordinate the operations and activities of a dynamic writing center. Provide expert tutoring for students’ needs in academic writing across the disciplines.</li><li>Lead Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) initiatives, collaborating with faculty across disciplines and in key first year courses, to strengthen the development of student writing.</li><li>Design and implement innovative programs that promote reading, critical thinking, and information literacy across the curriculum.</li><li>Contribute to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) through research, assessment and publication of writing center practices and outcomes.</li><li>Teach, subject to curricular need, first-year writing courses, summer writing workshops, and other special writing programs/courses (cross-registration, ABP program, etc.).</li></ul><p><b><u>Key Activities</u></b></p><br><ul><li>Provide expert tutoring for the various academic needs of GU-Q students.</li><li>Meet with faculty to discuss the needs of students in academic writing across the disciplines.</li><li>Partner with faculty to design discipline-specific writing assignments and integrate writing-to-learn pedagogies into their courses.</li><li>Facilitate faculty development workshops on writing pedagogy, assignment design, and responding to student writing.</li><li>Identify and disseminate resources for academic writing and academic achievement.</li><li>Develop and lead innovative programs that integrate reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, including digital literacy initiatives.</li><li>Conduct research and assessment on writing center effectiveness and student learning outcomes. Share findings through presentations and publications.</li><li>Assist the Director for Student Academic Success in the delivery of teaching, learning and assessment initiatives, based on current trends in writing center scholarship and evidence-based literacy practices.</li><li>Manage project development.</li><li>Lead writing workshops and other writing-related seminars and labs.</li><li>Teach at least one first year writing course per semester.</li><li>Administer and assist with the English writing assessment at New Student Orientation/Hoya Welcome Week.</li><li>Manage and oversee the work of direct reports, including scheduling, setting and reviewing performance objectives, and identifying and scheduling training and development needs.</li><li>Liaise with Human Resources to manage recruitment, hiring, onboarding and offboarding of direct reports, as required.</li><li>Recruit, hire, train, supervise and mentor student peer tutors and fellows in supporting critical reading and multimodal composition.</li></ul><p><b><u>Knowledge and Skills</u></b></p><br><ul><li>Knowledge of writing center dynamics and current best practices in writing center administration.</li><li>Knowledge of Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines theories and pedagogies.</li><li>Understanding evidence-based approaches to teaching reading comprehension and critical thinking.</li><li>Familiarity with SOTL methodologies, including assessment design and educational research.</li><li>Ability to work well with various forms of technology to support program operations and writing development including AI tools, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, online data management software, social media tools, collaborative writing spaces, etc.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work well in a collaborative, learning-focused, team environment.</li><li>Strong facilitation and analytical skills.</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to assessment and evidence-based practice preferred. </li></ul><p><b><u>Qualifications</u></b></p><br><ul><li>Master degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Education or a related writing-intensive field. Coordinates schedules, rooms, instructors, information sessions, applications and lab placements for student research programs (PM and Med) and the National Training Programs.
