<p>The Automation Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising automation maintenance activities across assigned plant facilities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automation and control systems. The role supports the execution of preventive, corrective, shutdown, and emergency maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with company procedures, HSE requirements, quality standards, and approved budgets.
The position is accountable for diagnosing faults, resolving critical equipment failures, analyzing system performance, and implementing solutions to improve equipment reliability, availability, and operational efficiency. The Automation Engineer coordinates material, spare parts, and equipment requirements, supports modifications and upgrades of automation systems, and contributes to feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and maintenance improvement initiatives.
Working closely with Operations, Maintenance Planning, contractors, and service providers, the role ensures timely execution of maintenance activities, effective utilization of resources, and minimal plant downtime. The Automation Engineer also supervises maintenance personnel, provides technical guidance and development support, monitors maintenance performance and costs, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and reduce maintenance expenditure.
In addition, the role is responsible for maintaining accurate maintenance records, supporting SAP maintenance management processes, preparing technical reports, and ensuring plant automation systems operate in accordance with operational, safety, environmental, and business requirements.</p><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><p>Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering. Recognized Instrument & Control certifications will be an added advantage. Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in automation, instrumentation, or control systems engineering within a large industrial or petrochemical environment, including exposure to project management and contractor management. Strong knowledge of automation engineering and industrial automation systems, with proven experience in downtime analysis and the application of structured problem-solving techniques. Review handover documentation, as-built records, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and quality dossiers. Verify project closeout documentation and ensure final quality dossiers are complete and compliant with contractual requirements.
