A Snapshot of Your Day<br><br>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Repair Technician with a strong background in machining and rotating equipment repairs such as (turbo and reciprocating compressors, steam and gas turbines.) The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in operating horizontal lathes, boring machines, and small milling machines, combined with the ability to perform precision inspections, generate technical drawings, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.<br><br>How You’ll Make An Impact<br><br>Operate horizontal lathes, boring machines, and milling machines for precision machining tasks. Has the knowledge to Perform complex repairs on turbo compressors, reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, and gas turbines. Execute reverse engineering for worn or damaged components. Conduct detailed dimensional inspections of parts using precision measuring tools. Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation. Generate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for components and assemblies. Support reverse engineering projects and contribute to design improvements. Collaborate on process improvements and workshop development initiatives. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in all activities. Utilize MS Office for reporting, documentation, and communication.<br><br><br>What You Bring<br><br>Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering or Machining with 10+ years of experience in rotating equipment repairs and machining operations. Proven ability to operate horizontal lathes, boring machines, and milling machines. Strong knowledge of turbo compressors, reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, and gas turbines repair processes. Proficiency in CAD software (Auto CAD, Inventor, Solid Works, or equivalent). Familiarity with reverse engineering techniques and precision measurement tools. Excellent understanding of safety standards and workshop best practices. Multi-tasking and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with creative mindset for process improvement and innovation. The role will involve inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems while ensuring compliance with applicable safety requirements and maintenance procedures in Qatar.<br><br>Key Requirements<br><br>Minimum 3–5 years of experience in BMU or suspended access equipment maintenance. Diploma or ITI qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with BMU electrical controls, motors, brakes, hoists, hydraulic power packs, and safety systems. Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic diagrams. Valid work-at-height and rescue training certification. BMU troubleshooting and fault diagnosis. Electrical and mechanical maintenance. Hydraulic-system maintenance. Preventive and breakdown maintenance. Wire-rope and safety-device inspection.<br><br>Preferred Qualifications<br><br>BMU manufacturer training or certification is preferred. Previous experience in Qatar or the GCC is preferred.<br><br>Other Qualifications<br><br>Basic English communication and report-writing skills. Physically fit and comfortable working at heights. Strong safety awareness. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to attend emergency breakdowns and work outside normal hours when required.<br><br>Key Responsibilities<br><br>Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of BMUs, cradles, hoists, davits, monorails, and suspended access equipment. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control-system faults. Inspect wire ropes, sheaves, drums, brakes, motors, gearboxes, limit switches, load cells, and safety devices. Test emergency-stop, overload, anti-tilt, limit-switch, and emergency-lowering functions. Carry out lubrication, adjustment, component replacement, and system calibration. Attend breakdown calls and restore equipment safely and promptly. Conduct daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections as per the maintenance schedule. Assist with load testing, commissioning, and third-party inspections. Follow approved method statements, risk assessments, permit-to-work procedures, and work-at-height requirements. Maintain service reports, inspection checklists, fault reports, and maintenance records. Ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations, company procedures, and applicable Qatar safety regulations. Coordinate with clients, supervisors, engineers, and other maintenance teams.
