Economic Expert Role Overview The Economic Expert provides economic analysis, research, and policy advice to support strategic decision-making. Prepare high-quality economic reports, policy papers, briefing notes, presentations, executive summaries, and strategic recommendations. Provide expert economic advice and recommendations to senior management and support executive decision-making. Support the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of economic policies, strategies, and reform initiatives. Collaborate with internal departments to integrate economic analysis into strategic planning, budgeting, performance management, and business planning processes. Conduct benchmark studies and comparative analyses of regional and international economic policies, regulations, and best practices. Evaluate industry trends, market conditions, and investment environments to identify economic opportunities and potential risks. Support the development of economic performance indicators, monitoring frameworks, and analytical dashboards. Review and assess the economic implications of legislation, regulations, and fiscal policies. Develop economic forecasts and scenario planning models to support long-term organizational planning. Present economic findings, forecasts, and recommendations to executive management, committees, and external stakeholders. Engage with government entities, regulatory authorities, research institutions, international organizations, and other stakeholders on economic matters. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of economic data, methodologies, and analytical outputs. Maintain awareness of developments in economic theory, analytical methodologies, and international best practices. Participate in cross-functional projects by providing economic expertise and analytical support. Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform any other duties assigned by management within the scope of the role. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field. Master's degree in Economics or a related discipline is preferred. Experience5–8 years of professional experience in economic analysis, policy development, economic research, or a related field. Experience within government entities, regulatory authorities, consulting firms, or international organisations is preferred. Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and economic policy analysis. Proficiency in statistical and analytical tools such as Excel, Stata, R, SPSS, Python, or similar software. Excellent analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills. Strong report writing, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to interpret complex economic data and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. He will also facilitate the monitoring and reporting of economic developments in key international markets, competitive information, and strategic opportunities.<br><br>Essential Duties & Responsibilities By Dimensions<br><br> Shareholder & Financial: Manage the appropriate use of tools, data, statistical packages, and other research subscriptions necessary for the workflow of Group Economics. Manage the preparation of input for business and budget forecasts (economic reports and macroeconomic forecasts across countries). Implements KPI’s and best practices for Assistant Vice President Economic role. Promote cost consciousness and efficiency and enhance productivity, to minimise cost, avoid waste, and optimise benefits for the bank. Act within the limits of the powers delegated to the incumbent. Customer (Internal & External): Manage research products and investor relations activities associated with macroeconomics. Manage all Group Economics publications and thought leadership activities, such as Country Economic Insight Reports, Weekly Economic Commentary, Qatar Monthly Monitor, Global Macro Updates, and ad-hoc bespoke reports. Manage all day-to-day business activities, including the economic sections for the Investment Management Committee (IMC), Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO), Group Management Risk Committee (GMRC), and Ratings Report. Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/units to achieve improvements in turn-around time. Engage and provide coaching to managers and associates in all aspects of the generation of internal and external reports.
