The Biological Sciences Program at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant position on a project investigating how the extracellular matrix regulates metastatic breast cancer progression. The project combines molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, and cancer biology to uncover mechanisms of gene regulation underlying tumor progression and metastasis. The position is funded for a period of 1 year and 6months with a possible renewal based on performance and continued funding.
Desired Candidate Profile
- At minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology
- Documented and hands-on experience with qPCR, miRNA biology, and Western blotting techniques
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative research team.
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Flow cytometry
- Molecular cloning
- RNA interference (siRNA, miRNA, morpholinos)
- Cell migration and adhesion assays
- Bioinformatics or RNA-seq analysis
