in Qatar (GU-Q), located in Doha, is seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to serve as its <b>Director of Finance</b>.</p><br><p>Key Accountabilities:</p><br><ul><li>In close consultation with the COO, help oversee the execution GU-Q’s financial management strategy.</li><li>Oversee and manage the following functions: general accounting including accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll approvals, procurement including development and negotiation of contracts, treasury operations, as well as student financial services.</li><li>Manage and coordinate all fiscal reporting requirements for GU-Q, including coordination of all audit activities.</li><li>Ensure all monthly and year-end accounting activities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.</li><li>Coordinate all quarterly and yearly budgeting activities.</li></ul><p>Key Activities:</p><br><ul><li>Ensure that all GU-Q programs and activities are carried out in accordance with the Qatar Foundation (QF) agreement.</li><li>In close collaboration with the COO, provide leadership in financial policy formulation, revenue and expenditure management, and capital budget management.</li><li>Develop, communicate, manage and provide guidance to faculty and staff on university financial policies and procedures.</li><li>Establish the annual planning and budget process and incorporate planning parameters to develop 5-year financial plans at the department level.</li><li>Ensure adequate controls are in place and substantiating documentation is approved to ensure compliance with audits, regulatory and/or reporting requirements.</li><li>Provide support in major contract negotiations, acquisitions, and/or joint venture opportunities.</li><li>Oversee student financial services, procurement and payment, and treasury operations, including foreign gift and contracts reporting to the GU Office of Compliance for Department of Education reporting.</li><li>Develop a financial framework and model for managing all assets and liabilities of the organization over the useful life of those assets and liabilities.</li><li>Collaborate with appropriate University divisions to evaluate, plan, and deploy the use of technology and related processes to advance the mission of the University.</li><li>Liaise with appropriate units to ensure pre- and post-award compliance with sponsor and university requirements.</li><li>Serve as a liaison with the Main Campus Finance Office, GU-Q HR, the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Sponsored Programs, Internal Audit and other appropriate departments at GU-Q or GU-DC.</li><li>Develop and maintain adequate financial forecasting models.</li><li>Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Manage and oversee the work of staff, including setting and reviewing performance objectives, and identifying training and development needs.</li><li>Liaise with Human Resources to manage recruitment, hiring, onboarding and offboarding of direct reports, as required.</li><li>Respond to urgent requests and concerns via email, texts, and phone calls outside of normal working hours.</li><li>Other similar duties, as assigned.</li></ul><p>Knowledge and Skills:</p><br><ul><li>Knowledge & Understanding of GAAP, GAAS, FASB, and GASB.</li><li>Knowledge of process preferred.</li><li>CPA certification is preferred.</li></ul><p>Experience:</p><br><ul><li>7+ years’ of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in a large, complex institution of higher education.</li><li>Demonstrated leadership interpreting and applying federal and fiscal policies, regulations and reporting requirements.</li><li>Experience in providing leadership to a diverse It will work closely with the Events team, internal departments, external vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure events run smoothly and that guests have a positive experience.</span></p><br><p><span>On-Call Events Coordinators will be needed for blocks of time between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with availability to cover evening and weekend shifts as needed. The anticipated start date is August/September. </span><span>Training will be provided for 1-2 days and working periods will be identified and agreed to in advance, dependent upon need and availability.</span></p><br><p><i>Note: </i><b>As this part-time position is based in Doha, Qatar and offers no relocation assistance, GU-Q is looking for locally based candidates only. The Temporary Instruction Librarian serves as a primary liaison and instructional partner across assigned academic departments, designing and delivering responsive research and information literacy services that align with departmental curricula. This role will cultivate specialized library collections, advance scholarly communication, and develop collaborative outreach programs to enrich the academic and cultural life of the GU-Q community.<br>This is a full-time, temporary position with a duration of up to six months. Support literature searching, research methodologies, citation management, and critical evaluation of information sources. Provide guidance on the ethical, effective, and discipline-appropriate use of AI in research and learning.<br>Liaison Services and Collection Development (20%) Serve as a liaison to assigned academic departments (e.g., History, Economics, etc.), building strong partnerships with faculty, students, and staff. Promote library services, tools, and resources within liaison areas through targeted outreach and engagement. Evaluate, select, and recommend resources to support teaching and research in assigned liaison areas. Monitor emerging publications and resources from leading publishers and vendors. Regularly gather input from faculty on resource needs and priorities. Assess usage, relevance, and gaps in collections, and collaborate with the acquisitions team on purchasing and renewal decisions.<br>Cultural and Community Engagement (20%) Contribute to the planning and delivery of cultural, scholarly, and community engagement programs, such as speaker series, exhibitions, and thematic events. Support outreach initiatives that enhance the visibility and impact of library services and programs.<br>Professional Development and Service (10%) Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with trends in librarianship, information literacy, AI, and emerging technologies, and subject areas. Contribute to library committees, institutional service, and professional organizations. Participate in cross-departmental initiatives and collaborative projects that advance the Library's strategic priorities.<br>Knowledge and Skills:Demonstrated understanding of academic research processes, information literacy frameworks, instructional design, and scholarly communication (including open access, research impact, data literacy, and citation management). Knowledge of AI and emerging technologies in higher education, including AI-assisted research tools, prompt design fundamentals, and responsible/ethical AI use. Familiarity with research and instructional technologies, including citation management tools (e.g., Zotero, End Note), bibliometric databases (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science), learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), and online tutorial platforms (e.g., Lib Guides). Familiarity with collection development, subject liaison services, reference models (virtual and in-person), and relevant library systems and research databases. Ability to design and deliver effective instruction sessions, workshops, and learning materials, with strong classroom facilitation and public-speaking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and staff in an international academic environment. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.<br>Qualifications:Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program (or international equivalent) in Library and Information Science.<br>Experience:2+ years of professional experience in an academic library.
