The HVAC Technician, under general direction, performs work of average to considerable difficulty in the journey-level performance of facilities maintenance to include the primary field of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) and performs other tasks as assigned. Inspects, installs, troubleshoots, maintains, repairs and operations refrigeration, all types of air conditioning, evaporative cooking and ventilation equipment plants and systems, including portable units and ice makers. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).<br><br>Principal Accountabilities<br><br>Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance in accordance with Job Plans. Installs, modifies, repairs, constructs, fabricates, troubleshoots and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning (unit sizes up to 35 ton), ventilation and related control systems and equipment according to applicable Technical Publications and directives. Installs, adjusts and calibrates thermostats, electronic, pressure and pneumatic controls on HVAC-R systems to maintain a comfortable temperature for employees and proper equipment operation. May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work area to perform emergency equipment repairs during off duty hours using a vehicle, telephone, hand, power and specialty tools and necessary parts/materials. Identifies and corrects equipment problems by maintaining HVAC-R equipment in a safe condition, prevent degradation of property and systems and prevent failures that would cause reduction in service. Diagnoses and isolates unusual malfunction to individual system components. Uses special pressure, temperature and analysis test equipment to determine efficiency and effectiveness of refrigeration cooling. Adjusts, calibrates and aligns components for optimum operating efficiency within design limitations. Inspects completed or in progress work for compliance with standard operating procedures, safety standards and technical publications. Provides technical expertise to facilities personnel to assist them in understanding specific job requirements. Conforms to Amentum safety, hazardous material and quality standards. Follows safety standards in working with multiple services, tools and equipment. Operates Mechanical Handling Equipment when trained to do so. Trains co-workers to perform preventive maintenance and repair work on mechanical portion of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Works in maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods. <br><br>Minimum Requirements<br><br>Must have organizational skills and be able to understand, speak, read and write English at a beginner level. Must be able to read and understand technical data, plans/blueprints and publications pertaining to USAF refrigeration air-conditioning systems. Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license. May be required to operate material handling equipment. High School diploma or equivalent required. Five years practical experience of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems required. Education or technical training in a field related to facilities maintenance through a recognized trade union, technical school or equivalent, accredited college or university may substitute for up to two years of the required experience. May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment. Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed. The Electrical Power Production Technician installs, operates, and modifies electrical generating power production plants and Ground/Mobile Power Generation equipment.<br><br>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:<br><br>Installs and operates electrical power plants, distribution equipment, automatic transfer panels Checks equipment for serviceability Positions equipment such as gasoline, diesel, and turbine engines; generators; switchgear; air compressors; and other power plant auxiliary equipment Modifies equipment according to technical publications.
