Role Description In this full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar, the VFD and PLC Programming, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance Technician is responsible for programming, configuring, and maintaining variable frequency drives and PLC-based control systems. The technician will install, test, and commission control panels and related instrumentation for motor control centers, pump control panels, HVAC systems, and other automated switchgear assemblies. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise with excellent customer service, ensuring seamless execution for corporate meetings, weddings, social galas, and daily restaurant operations. 1. Banquet &amp; Catering Event Execution Setup &amp; Strike: Efficiently transport, install, and configure AV equipment (microphones, sound systems, projectors, LED screens, lighting rigs, and staging) according to Event Order (BEO) specifications. Live Event Operation: Run the soundboard, switch video feeds, and adjust lighting during live events, presentations, weddings, and conferences. Client Support: Act as the on-site technical point of contact for event hosts and guest speakers, conducting tech rehearsals and troubleshooting issues under tight deadlines. 2. Restaurant &amp; Venue AV Management Ambient Environment Control: Maintain and program background music (BGM) systems, zoned audio, and volume levels across different restaurants and lounges to match the time of day and vibe. Dining Events: Setup and manage specialized AV for restaurant events, such as live acoustic acts, DJ setups, sports viewing parties, or private dining presentations. Digital Signage: Monitor and update digital menu boards, promotional screens, and wayfinding displays throughout the dining and lobby areas. 3. Maintenance &amp; Asset Protection Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety checks on all property AV equipment. Track inventory, report damaged gear, and assist in coordinating repairs or equipment rentals. Perform preventive maintenance according to the established maintenance schedule. Attend to maintenance requests and breakdowns promptly, particularly those affecting guest rooms and guest areas. Carry out basic electrical repairs, including lighting, switches, sockets, and other electrical fixtures. Perform basic plumbing repairs, including leaking taps, pipes, toilets, drains, and other plumbing fixtures. Conduct basic HVAC inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance where required. Undertake minor carpentry, painting, tiling, and general building repairs. Inspect equipment, machinery, fixtures, and facilities and report any defects or potential problems. Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and to the required quality standards. Follow all health, safety, environmental, and property procedures. Maintain proper records of completed maintenance work and report outstanding issues to the supervisor. Respond to emergency maintenance situations and breakdowns as required. Coordinate with other engineering team members and departments to ensure smooth daily operations. Maintain tools, equipment, and the engineering workshop in a clean and organized condition. Ensure spare parts and materials are used responsibly and report replenishment requirements. Support energy and water conservation initiatives across the property. Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Chief Engineer.<br><br>Required Qualifications & Experience<br><br>Technical qualification or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or a related field. Previous experience in a multi-technician, maintenance, engineering, or similar role. Previous hotel, resort, residential, or commercial property experience is preferred. Good practical knowledge of general building maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic electrical and plumbing systems. Basic knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems.
