About Wafir Wafir is a fintech platform digitizing community-based savings and lending circles, commonly known as Al Jami’a or ROSCA.
As we continue developing our product and regulatory framework, we are looking for a Product Owner with a strong understanding of compliance in the non-banking financial sector to help bridge product development, operations, compliance, and customer needs.
Role Overview
The Product Owner will be responsible for managing the development and continuous improvement of Wafir’s digital product from business and operations perspective, ensuring that features are built in line with business objectives, user needs, operational requirements, and regulatory expectations.
This person will work closely with the founders, technology team, operations team, compliance advisors, regulators, and external stakeholders to translate business and regulatory requirements into clear product features, workflows, and user experiences.
The ideal candidate is someone who understands fintech or non-banking financial services, has experience with compliance processes, and can manage product execution in a structured and practical way.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership Own and manage the product roadmap in coordination with the founders and leadership team. Translate business, compliance, and operational requirements into clear product features and user stories. Prioritize product features based on business value, regulatory importance, user needs, and technical feasibility. Work closely with the development team to ensure features are clearly defined, tested, and delivered properly. Review app workflows and user journeys to improve usability, clarity, and compliance. Monitor product performance and suggest improvements based on user feedback, operational gaps, and business priorities.
Compliance & Regulatory Alignment Ensure that product features and workflows are aligned with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Support the implementation of KYC, AML, user verification, risk classification, disclosures, consent forms, and digital agreement flows. Update and track the existing policies and create relevant SOPsWork with compliance consultants and legal advisors to translate regulatory requirements into practical product and operational processes. Help document compliance-related workflows, controls, and audit trails within the platform. Own preparing regulatory responses, product documentation, and process explanations when required. Ensure that customer-facing journeys clearly communicate fees, obligations, risks, and terms of participation.
Operations & Process Management Map and improve internal workflows related to onboarding, circle management, payments, collections, delinquency management, and customer support. Identify gaps between the current product, manual operations, and desired automated workflows. Work with the operations team to reduce manual effort and improve process efficiency. Create SOPs, process maps, checklists, and internal documentation where needed. Support testing and rollout of new features before they go live.
Stakeholder Coordination Act as a bridge between business, compliance, operations, and technology teams. Gather requirements from different departments and convert them into structured development tasks. Coordinate with external vendors, compliance consultants, and technology partners when required. Lead product meetings, sprint planning, and progress tracking. Communicate product updates, risks, delays, and decisions clearly to leadership.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Law, or a related field.3–6 years of experience in product ownership, product management, fintech operations, compliance, or financial services. Experience in a non-banking financial institution, fintech company, payment company, lending platform, microfinance provider, exchange house, insurance, or similar regulated environment. Good understanding of compliance-related processes such as KYC, AML, customer due diligence, risk assessment, disclosures, and documentation. Ability to write clear product requirements, user stories, process flows, and internal documentation. Strong coordination skills between technical and non-technical teams. Practical understanding of digital platforms, mobile apps, dashboards, and backend operational systems.
Preferred Experience Experience working with regulatory sandbox programs or financial regulators. Familiarity with Qatar’s fintech or financial services ecosystem. Experience with ROSCA, savings products, lending, payments, or alternative finance is a plus. Knowledge of tools such as Jira, Click Up, Trello, Notion, Figma, or similar platforms. Experience working with external development teams or outsourced technology partners. Arabic and English proficiency is preferred.
