Job Summary
Responsible for implementing and monitoring Food Safety and Occupational Health & Safety standards to ensure compliance with local municipality regulations and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Safety & Hygiene:
- Implement and maintain HACCP principles and ISO 22000 standards.
- Monitor hygiene levels in receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, and delivery areas.
- Conduct daily/weekly site inspections and audits, including temperature checks and hygiene checks.
- Oversee pest control and food waste management.
Occupational Health & Safety:
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and audits for kitchen and service areas.
- Develop and enforce safety policies (e.g., proper use of kitchen equipment, chemical handling).
- Investigate accidents, food safety complaints, and near-misses; implement corrective actions.
Training & Compliance:
- Train staff on food safety, hygiene practices, and proper food handling.
- Conduct toolbox talks and emergency evacuation drills.
- Ensure compliance with local municipality and government health regulations.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, lab tests, training, and incidents.
- Compile monthly reports for management regarding safety performance.
Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Safety Management, or related field.
- Certifications: HACCP/ServSafe certification required.
- Experience: Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food service industry is preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of local municipality food safety regulations and OHS standards.
- Skills: Communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions
- Frequent standing and moving between kitchen, storage, and office areas.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts.
