Job Description:

My client is looking for a Commercial Director responsible for leading and managing all commercial operations across the company’s various business units, including design, engineering, manufacturing, processing, and installation.


This role requires an extensive background in quantity surveying, coupled with a strong understanding of contract management, pricing strategy, and commercial risk management. The Commercial Director will oversee multiple projects, ensuring that the company’s commercial interests are protected throughout the contract lifecycle. This role also involves managing a team of Commercial Managers, each responsible for specific projects, as well as overseeing Analysts, Associates, Engineers, and Executives.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead and manage the commercial team, including Commercial Managers, Analysts, Associates, Engineers, and Executives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.


  • Commercial Strategy and Operations:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy that drives revenue growth, profitability, and market share across all business units.


  • Contractual Risk Management:
  • Identify, assess, and negotiate contractual risks to protect the company’s interests in all projects.

  • Project Collaboration and Support:
  • Collaborate with project directors and managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


  • Financial Oversight and Revenue Management:
  • Oversee revenue recognition, invoicing, and the certification of invoices across all projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial goals.


  • Client and Stakeholder Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring that commercial interests are prioritized and protected.

  • Risk Management and Compliance:
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks associated with projects and business operations, implementing risk management strategies across all business units.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field; RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) certification or equivalent preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in senior commercial roles, with a strong focus on quantity surveying, contract management, pricing strategy, and revenue management in the manufacturing, engineering, or construction sectors.
  • Extensive experience in managing commercial risks, contract negotiations, and legal compliance.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and strategic decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in contract management software, financial reporting tools, and risk management practices.
