The Commercial Diver is responsible for performing underwater inspection, maintenance, repair, and support activities during vessel docking and marine operations. The role includes hull inspections, propeller polishing, sea chest cleaning, underwater cutting and welding, salvage, lifting, and technical reporting while ensuring strict compliance with diving safety and HSE standards. The diver also maintains diving equipment, supports docking operations, and assists in emergency response and other operational duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 3–4 years of commercial diving experience in shipyard, offshore, or industrial marine operations.
• Commercial diving certification (IMCA preferred).
• Firefighting and First Aid training.
• Experience in drydock, floating dock, and vessel docking/undocking operations is an advantage.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Primary Diving Duties
•    Conduct underwater hull inspections, propeller polishing, sea chest cleaning, anode replacement, and related maintenance tasks during vessel docking/undocking.
•    Install and secure underwater support blocks, wedges, and guide pins as per the Docking Plan.
•    Carry out underwater cutting, welding, and NDT tasks where required using approved underwater tools and techniques.
•    Perform salvage, lifting, and underwater recovery operations using rigging, cranes, and winches.
•    Operate and maintain underwater video and communication equipment to document and support technical evaluations.
•    Prepare technical dive reports and photographic documentation for marine engineers and surveyors.
Safety & Compliance
•    Strictly follow all diving safety protocols including pre-dive briefings, buddy checks, and decompression procedures.
•    Maintain and inspect diving equipment (helmets, suits, gauges, compressors, tanks) to ensure operational readiness.
•    Maintain current dive logs, checklists, and compliance records as per HSE standards and company policies.
•    Ensure proper usage of PPE and participate in all toolbox talks and safety drills.
Support Roles
•    Assist Dockmaster during vessel movement, block positioning, and underwater checks.
•    Provide fire watch and emergency response support when not assigned diving duties.
•    Engage in confined space rescue readiness, if certified and trained.

Education & Professional Qualification:
Higher secondary school education.  
While international commercial diving certifications (IMCA, ADCI, HSE) are preferred, as a transitional standard, subject to future compliance review.  
Training in firefighting and first aid.

Professional Experience: 
Min. 2-3 years experiences in as a commercial diver in shipyard, offshore, or industrial diving operations.
Experience with docking/undocking procedures, floating docks, and drydock operations preferred.

Geographic Experience: 
N/A

Computer Skills: 
Basic knowledge of operating computer.

Language Skills: 
Good knowledge of English (speaks and writes) and other languages knowledge will be an added advantage.
