Overview
An international energy sector organisation is seeking an experienced QA QC Mechanical Piping Inspector to support major onshore and offshore oil and gas projects in Qatar. The role forms part of the project quality team and is responsible for ensuring that materials, fabrication activities, and installation works meet strict technical specifications and quality standards.
This position plays a key role in maintaining quality assurance across procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning stages of large scale energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Review contractor quality documentation and provide clear feedback to project quality representatives
Evaluate the suitability of materials, equipment, and processes against project specifications
Monitor fabrication, installation, and construction activities to ensure compliance with technical standards
Conduct site receipt inspections of materials and equipment including visual and dimensional checks where applicable
Verify that contractor quality processes and procedures are effectively implemented
Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent degradation or damage
Maintain awareness of the latest revisions of project quality documentation and ensure proper record keeping
Prepare daily inspection reports highlighting key observations and any quality concerns
Participate in site quality verification activities including quality walkabouts and procurement surveillance
Record and assist with the resolution of product related non conformances
Coordinate closely with project teams, construction specialists, and inspection personnel
Provide recommendations on quality related matters during project execution
Support continuous improvement by contributing to quality training initiatives when required
Requirements
Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent technical qualification with relevant trade certification
Minimum 8 years of inspection experience within oil and gas or energy infrastructure projects
Experience supporting procurement, fabrication, installation, hook up, and commissioning phases of projects
Strong experience with piping systems, valves, and static or rotating equipment installation and testing
Familiarity with cryogenic service requirements and hot tapping activities
Experience working on both onshore and offshore facilities is preferred
Knowledge of international engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ASNT, and NACE
Minimum two years of experience working with corrosion resistant alloy clad pipeline or piping systems
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management principles
Certifications
CSWIP 3.2.2 Senior Welding Inspection certification with RT interpretation
NDT Level II certification (such as ASNT) in relevant inspection methods including UT, MT, PT or RT interpretation
BGAS or NACE certification is preferred
Experience with advanced NDT methods such as PAUT or TOFD is advantageous
Skills
Strong technical knowledge of welding, metallurgy, fabrication processes, and non destructive testing
Excellent inspection, coordination, and problem solving skills
Ability to work effectively under schedule pressure and during fast track project phases
Strong organisational and reporting skills
Good written and spoken English communication skills
Proficient with standard computer and reporting tools
