Position Summary

Assistant Station Head is responsible and accountable to support and assist Station Head (SH) to manage, plan and monitor the overall ground operations at the respective station to ensure Malaysia Airlines operates in a safe, secure and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and SOPs. Assistant Station Head is also responsible to assist SH to ensure consistent service delivery in accordance with the company’s set service standards and meet or exceed the company’s KPIs related to On-Time Performance (OTP), Mishandle Baggage (MHB), Document Violation, Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and financial targets.

Key Accountability
  • Assist the SH in overseeing all ground operations, ensuring compliance with safety, security, regulatory requirements, and adherence to airline policies, procedures, and the Ground Operations Manual.
  • Responsible to support SH for the airline’s overall ground operations at the airport
  • Responsible to support SH to ensure the airline’s ground operations are in full compliance to all safety, security, regulatory requirement and all airline’s policies, procedures and operating manual.
  • Undertake an oversight function on all outsourced functions perform by appointed GSP and vendors.
  • Responsible to support SH to ensure delivery of all airline’s products and services at all ground customer touchpoints consistently meet and exceed the service quality target set.
  • Responsible to support SH for all other aspects of the airport operations such as Documentation, Record Keeping, Training, Manpower, GSP Performance, GSP Contract and SLA, Customer Service, Risk Management, Operations, Disruption, Crisis, Stakeholders Engagement and Communication, Financial, Reporting, and other relevant functions as outlined in the Ground Operations Manual.
  • Perform any other duties as required by SH / Regional Head / Management / stipulated in the Ground Operations Manual (GOM) to support the smooth running of airport operations and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Qualification & Working Experience
  • Degree with 1 year working experience.
  • Diploma with 3 years working experience
Area of Experience
  • Understanding local and international aviation regulations, security protocols, and Malaysia Airlines' policies to ensure operations meet all legal and safety standards.
  • Strong skills in overseeing ground operations, including crisis management, resource allocation, and performance tracking.
  • Proficiency in engaging with internal and external stakeholders to foster effective collaboration.
Personality Traits
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality services across all aspects of the station’s operations, maintaining accountability for service standards.
  • Manage and control funds, account receivables, payables, and costs within the approved budget, while ensuring compliance with communication, statutory, and legal requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key personnel in government agencies and external parties to maximize business opportunities for the company.
Profile description:

Key Accountability

  • Collect Excess baggage, last minutes upgrade charges and perform mishandled baggage incidental payment.
  • Ensure that handling services provided to Malaysia Airlines flights by GHA are performed in accordance with the appropriate and agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) and handling agreements and charges match services provided.
  • Monitor safety and security issues within area of responsibility ensuring staff and third-party Ground Handling Agent (GHA) are complying to the safety requirements and organizational procedures, accurate reporting and recording of information.
  • Ensure station within region control is in conformity to Malaysia Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR 2016) and Local Authorities regulations pertaining to occupational health, operational safety, and environment laws applicable to Malaysia Airlines (MAB) and the service provider and Compliance to Station Regulatory Audit Process.
  • Liaise with various departments at respective station to ensure smooth handling of Malaysia Airlines passengers and aircraft. Manage complaints and claims at station.

Key Challenges

  • Ensure effective management and control of fund, account receivables and payables and cost within approve budget, communications, and statutory/legal requirements.
  • Develop, establish, and maintain close rapport through networking with key personalities in the Government agency, other relevant external parties and maximize business opportunities for the Company.
  • To provide consistent predictable and highest quality services in all aspect of station as well as be responsible and accountable for upholding service standards of all facets of operations.
