About the role
You will be responsible to review, analyse, draft and negotiate complex contracts in conjunction with various departments to protect the interests of, and meet the business requirements of, Qatar Airways. The role requires ensuring compliance with legal requirements and corporate policies while minimising risk.  You will act as Group Legal point of contact and manage relationships of selected departments. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Suggest ways to improve, develop and implement contract policy and procedure.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of complex commercial agreements.
  • Develop and manage strategic contracts in accordance with corporate requirements, legal requirements and internal procedures to secure and protect the business interests of Qatar Airways.
  • Advise Qatar Airways’ departments on contractual risk and solutions for mitigation. 
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Qatar Airways, becoming their trusted legal and business advisor.
  • Assist to resolve any disputes and identify areas for improvement in Qatar Airways’ contracting processes.
  • Provide legal interpretations on terms and conditions of contracts.
  • Instruct and manage external legal counsel where required.
  • Work closely with various departments (e.g. Procurement, Operations, Finance and Insurance) to understand contractual needs and ensure alignment with business objectives.  
  • Mentor junior legal staff, ensuring high standards of legal advice and contract management practices. 
  • Perform other duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum 8 years of job-related experience
  • Fluent English speaking and writing skills
  • Must be qualified as a lawyer in a recognised jurisdiction 
  • Must have work experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment
  • Qualified in a common law jurisdiction
  • Experience of a multi-cultural environment in contracts management and legal
  • Have worked in a medium or large sized matrixed/cross-functional environment
  • Contracts management experience. 
  • Strong legal drafting skills.
  • Excellent knowledge in contract and commercial negotiation relating to service and product agreements.
  • Contracting and negotiating skills to the highest standard. Proven track record of handling complex issues and negotiation.
  • Ability to understand complex vendor contracts and explain complex legal language.
