Senior Legal Specialist

About the role

The role will be responsible to follow up the litigation portfolio and liaise with external counsel.    provide accurate assessment of cases that would cover a various jurisdiction.  Provide accurate legal advice to Qatar Airways and its subsidiaries. To act as Group Legal point of contact for User department and update on the litigation proceedings. 

 

Some of the tasks include: 

  • Ensure a prompt follow up of Litigation portfolio, and communicate frequently with external counsels -Lawyers.  
  • Review Court Memo’s, submissions, and all related files to adequately defend Company rights.
  • Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal –Court’s precedents. 
  • Will work closely with Company department’s leaders and becoming their trusted legal advisor.
  • Develop and implement suggestions to Court cases trackers.
  • Provide high quality review, analysis, and active participation within the Legal department. 
  • Identify issues and determines when the escalation procedure should be started. 
  • Resolve any disputes which come up and identifying areas for improvement in company’s Policies.

Qualifications

About you

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with minimum 10 years of litigation experience.
  • Must be qualified and bilingual lawyer in a recognized jurisdiction (in preference MENA region)  
  • Must have work experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment in Qatar or MENA region). 
  • Excellent Arabic drafting skills is a must. 
  • Ability to work in a work team. 
  • Have worked in Qatar or MENA region for an Airline, Cargo or Shipping Company.  
  • Litigation management experience.
