Job Summary: As the Autonomous Systems Lead in the System Development department of a defense and security company, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end development of autonomous systems. You will lead a team of engineers and project managers to design, implement, and execute projects that enhance the defense and security capabilities of the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of system engineering principles, a focus on autonomous technologies, and a commitment to delivering innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Autonomous Systems Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the development of autonomous systems that align with the company's goals and objectives.
Project Planning and Execution:
Lead project teams in the planning and execution of complex autonomous systems development projects.
Establish project goals, timelines, and budgets and ensure they are met.
System Engineering:
Apply system engineering principles to define system requirements, architecture, and design for autonomous systems.
Oversee the integration of hardware, software, sensors, and other components into autonomous platforms.
Systems Development:
Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and advancements in the field of autonomous systems.
Drive innovation and research efforts to improve the company's autonomous systems capabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, AI specialists, and other experts, to ensure seamless integration and synergy.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential risks that could affect project timelines, budgets, or system performance.
Quality Assurance:
Implement quality control measures to ensure that autonomous systems meet or exceed required standards for reliability, safety, and performance.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that autonomous systems meet relevant regulatory and compliance standards in the defense and security sector.
Team Leadership:
Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the autonomous systems development team.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electro-Mechanical, Robotics Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in system engineering and project management with a focus on autonomous systems development, preferably in the defense and security industry.
- In-depth knowledge of autonomous systems technologies, including unmanned vehicles, robotics, and AI.
- Proven experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams on complex projects.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with safety-critical systems and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Knowledge of defense and security industry standards and regulations.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
