Our Mechanical Handling Services (MHS) division offers specialist capabilities in cranes and lifting operations, maintenance & inspections and hydraulic or fluid power engineering solutions. We are looking for Crane Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Doha, Qatar.
The Role Overview
- The incumbent will repair and maintain platform pedestal cranes to ensure they are safe and fit for purpose. In the absence of other information or instructions, the manufacturer’s specifications, and standards for each individual model of crane will be applied.
- Whilst maintaining and/or repairing the cranes, the Crane Maintenance Supervisor shall provide guidance for the Technicians and make certain he, and his team adhere to the procedures and guidelines as detailed within the work packs supplied for offshore task.
- All the necessary permit restrictions that apply within the area authority limit shall always be maintained and monitored by the Crane Maintenance Supervisor.
Main Responsibilities And Activities
- Carry out both routine and planned maintenance and repair activities on the pedestal cranes and associated component parts comprising of but not limited to, power plant, hydraulic system, pneumatic system, winches, sheaves, ropes, etc.
- Carry out and document all necessary planned routine and periodic maintenance tasks including spares usage.
- Always maintain a clean and tidy work site. Dispose rubbish in accordance with local procedure.
- To ensure that all spare parts and materials utilized are in good order and fit for purpose.
- To co-ordinate all other spares required to ensure the continuous operation and availability of the platform cranes.
- Work with independent verification inspectorate in carrying out periodic inspections and load testing.
- Assist as required (within the individual abilities) the platform maintenance crew on other mechanical plant at the discretion of the offshore installation management.
- To carry out general maintenance, servicing and deck support duties.
- To participate fully in the company’s competency assurance program.
- Attend courses as deemed necessary by company commensurate with individual’s position.
- Carry out other tasks deemed within individuals training and competence.
- Attend EnerMech onshore workshop to carry out repairs on crane components and general workshop duties.
Supervisory aspects of the role:
- To co-ordinate large maintenance tasks.
- De-brief job officer on completion of work / project.
- Co-ordinate completion of performance feedback questionnaire.
- Co-ordinate personnel movements with EnerMech logistics.
- To act as focal point between platform and EnerMech office.
- To ensure all personnel are aware of and adhere to safe and environmentally sound methods of work and systems which identify hazards at each place of work. Also consider third party sub-contractors.
- To ensure all personnel receive precise instruction in their responsibilities and correct working methods where risk exists in relation to Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
- To ensure competence of all personnel under your responsibility in conducting those work activities for which they are employed.
- Ensure any induction and or training required by personnel prior to conducting new activities.
- In consultation with the EHS & QA Manager, identify any training requirements under your responsibilities.
Technical Integrity:
- Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are completed to the highest possible standard.
- To uphold the company’s reputation and not to discuss or divulge any company information to any third party out with the employment of EnerMech.
Communication / Reporting:
- Effectively communicate with immediate supervisor, EnerMech Lead Hand (where applicable), Company Directors, client offshore supervisors and offshore staff.
- Ensure that all job and technical reports are accurate and timely.
- Ensure that all timesheets are accurate and timely.
- Actively participate in pre toolbox talk and job briefing.
- Participate in all aspects of current and future change processes.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Must have 5+ years of experience working in a similar role focused on mechanical and Crane management.
- Must have 3+ years working in the offshore industry.
- Previous experience in management of crane maintenance & inspection
- Previous experience in control of crane personnel engineers & technicians
- Ability to travel offshore in support of contract, audits, or investigations.
- NVQ Mechanical Level 3 (or equivalent) and have served a full recognized mechanical trade apprenticeship to a minimum of City and Guilds or equivalent standard.
- Previous offshore supervisory/team lead mechanical experience.
- The Lifting Operations Lifting Equipment Regulations and all legislation concerning lifting operations.
- To be competent in using both fixed and portable lifting equipment
- To be aware and adhere to safe and environmentally sound methods of work and systems which identify hazards at each place of work.
- Of acceptable British and European standards
- Of Safety and industry regulations
- Understanding of EnerMech’s management procedures
- Time served apprenticeship in mechanical environment.
- Experience with hydraulics systems (open and closed loop)
Preferred:
- A valid combined Offshore Survival Certificate
- Hydraulic systems qualifications
- Should have previous experience working with cranes on or offshore.
- Should have knowledge of Hydraulic closed and open loop systems.
