Role Description The Senior Litigation Counsel is a full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar. This role involves managing complex litigation files from initial assessment through final resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda, and preparing case strategies. The Senior Litigation Counsel will represent clients before courts and other adjudicatory bodies, attend hearings, manage evidence, and coordinate with external experts where necessary. Daily responsibilities include providing practical legal advice on contentious matters, assessing legal risks, and advising clients and internal teams on dispute-avoidance and dispute-resolution strategies. The role also involves supervising junior lawyers, reviewing their work, contributing to legal research and publications, and supporting business development through client presentations and participation in firm initiatives.
Qualifications
Strong foundational knowledge of Law, with substantial experience in civil and commercial litigation. Proven ability to analyze complex Legal Issues and craft clear, solutions-focused guidance. Demonstrated experience providing high-quality Legal Advice to clients in contentious and pre-contentious matters. Extensive experience appearing before Courts or other tribunals, including drafting pleadings, submissions, and managing hearings. Advanced Negotiation skills, including settlement discussions, mediation participation, and client representation in complex disputes. Accredited law degree and admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction; additional qualifications in international or comparative law are an asset. Excellent written and oral advocacy skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is highly advantageous. Experience mentoring and supervising junior lawyers, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style. High level of professional integrity, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters under time pressure. Prior experience in a reputable law firm or in-house litigation role, preferably with regional or cross-border exposure.
