Brewer Morris are seeking a highly skilled Tax Audit Consultant to lead and manage the tax audit and examination processes for a leading organisation in Qatar. This senior role involves supervising a team of Tax Examiners and Inspectors, conducting in-depth audits, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing expert guidance on complex tax matters.
The Role:
- Oversee and manage a team of Tax Examiners, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement tax audit plans and strategies in alignment with departmental goals.
- Conduct audits for various entities (corporations, partnerships, individuals) to assess compliance with tax laws.
- Review and analyse financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documents to identify tax risks and exposures.
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, recommendations, and identified tax liabilities.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex tax matters to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with taxpayers and relevant parties.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of tax audit procedures and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Mentor and supervise Tax Examiners and Inspectors, ensuring adherence to professional standards and best practices.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to enhance team skills and expertise.
- Assist in developing and refining tax audit strategies in coordination with the tax policy department.
- Manage the execution of annual operational plans and ensure effective workload distribution.
- Prepare monthly progress reports on completed work and team performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Taxation or a professional accoutning qualification (CA/CPA) qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in tax auditing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build stakeholder relationships.
- Proficiency in tax audit software and systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
