An opportunity for Senior Planning Engineer is currently available to work under Technical Planning & Engineering Technical - Centralized Planning Department based in Doha Qatar.
You will play a key role in providing specialized knowledge and team supervision for assigned planning functions including work scope definition, preparation/update of maintenance plans, planning/control of checks, managing of aircraft defects, and adjustment of schedules with a view to optimize resources, minimize costs and ensure aircraft airworthiness
Operational Accountabilities;
- Keeping in view the future fleet growth, prepare/update yearly maintenance grounding requirements for heavy (C checks, LG Replacements, Projects), light (A checks, Special base groundings) and line (weekly check, service check, components replacement) maintenance checks to optimize individual check yields while considering known constraints.
- Compile, coordinate with Supply Chain and all other stakeholders and finalize heavy, Light and Line maintenance work scope for accomplishment on Qatar Airways aircraft. Coordinate for all changes required to the work scope.
- Ensure Qatar Airways fleet is maintained within the approved AMP limits. Ensure timely issue of maintenance work packages, review of completed maintenance paperwork, and IT system update with compliance details. Ensure necessary actions are taken for incomplete maintenance.
- Develop detailed modification and component staggering plans for Qatar Airways fleet.
- Carry out technical review and feasibility study of first-time tasks (or complex tasks) to ensure effective implementation in Line/ Base Maintenance.
- Monitor and manage implementation of high profile/critical campaign modifications or tasks (e.g. mandatory modifications, software uploads, reliability modifications etc.).
- Provide specialized knowledge in preparation and implementation of maintenance checks to ensure optimization of resources (manpower, ground time, materials). Carry out review and preparation for implementation of complex modifications.
- Resolve queries and issues raised by certifying staff related to task cards encountered during performance of such tasks.
- Review base inputs in case of AOGs, check extensions due to findings, new Aircraft delivery delays, operational disruptions and revise maintenance plans to satisfy AMP interval requirements and maintenance constraints with an aim to maintaining the integrity of flight schedule.
- Ensure development and update of practical shift action plans and coordinate with Line/Base maintenance management for effective implementation. Develop and revise processes for effective review and clearance of open defects in coordination with Supply Chain, Line/Base Maintenance and Aircraft Scheduling. Adjust flight schedule to
- create opportunity for early rectification of MEL based (and other critical) deferred defects to improve technical dispatch reliability.
- Carry out routine cross check/verification of critical activities and take corrective action (TRAX PQ Vs Low interval tasks, deferred defects due dates Vs Slots, long standing open work packages, raising/closing of defects by subordinates, IT system data set-up).
- Coordination with outstations and MOCC for all planned line work (Weekly, Service Checks).
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
Additional Accountabilities
- Support during induction of new staff or staff transferred from other sections.
- Develop appropriate shift patterns for the staff under him/her to meet business requirements.
- Involved in compilation of section budget as requested by Manager Maintenance Planning

Qualifications- High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) with Minimum 7 years of job-related experience OR
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 6 years of job-related experience
- Knowledge of Part M, Part CAMO and Part-145 Regulations and functions.
- Project management and execution.
- Excellent decision-making skills – Ability to take correct decisions keeping in view all the constraints within relatively short period of time.
- Strong analytical skills to handle complex operational situations.
- Good background in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Good knowledge of IT system(s) being used in Planning.
