Customs Clearance Broker where you will ensure that the clearance operation runs smoothly i.e. that the shipments are pre-cleared, or post cleared in a timely manner and complies with the regulatory and customer requirements through the preparation of appropriate freight documentation and relevant customs clearance authorities. In this Customs Clearance Broker position
- You will classify goods according to tariff coding system.
- You will examine product information to ensure compliance with regulations.
- You will pay, or arrange for payment of, taxes and duties on shipments and pay charges, fees, or taxes.
- You will prepare and process import and export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, or procedures.
- You will oversee business processes and sign documents on behalf of clients, using powers of attorney.
- You will clear goods through customs and to their destinations for clients.
- You will coordinate logistics or other business operations.
- You will calculate duty and tariff payments owed on shipments and calculate data to inform organizational operations.
- You will stay abreast of changes in import or export laws or regulations by reading current literature, attending meetings or conferences, or conferring with colleagues.
- You will update knowledge of legal or regulatory environments.
- You will request or compile necessary import documentation, such as customs invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo-control documents.
- You will coordinate regulatory documentation activities and advise others on legal or regulatory compliance matters.
- You will advise customers on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, or other customs-related matters.
- You will monitor or trace the location of goods and monitor inventories of products or materials.
- You will confer with officials in various agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through customs and quarantine.
- You will obtain documentation to authorize activities.
- You will post bonds for the products being imported or assist clients in obtaining bonds.
- You will quote duty and tax rates on goods to be imported, based on federal tariffs and excise taxes.
- You will estimate costs of goods or services.
- You will obtain line releases for frequent shippers of low-risk commodities, high-volume entries, or multiple-container loads.
- You will arrange for transportation, warehousing, or product distribution of imported or exported products.
- You will inform importers and exporters of steps to reduce duties and taxes.
- You will advise others on financial matters and negotiate contracts with clients or service providers.
- You will maintain relationships with customs brokers in other ports to expedite clearing of cargo.
- You will apply for tariff concessions or for duty drawbacks and other refunds.
- You will submit financial applications and develop business relationship.
- You will provide advice on transportation options, types of carriers, or shipping routes.
- You will prepare papers for shippers to appeal duty charges and prepare regulatory or compliance documentation.
- You will suggest best methods of packaging or labeling products and advise others on business or operational matters.
- You will insure cargo against loss, damage, or pilferage.
