Job Description: Project: Gas Lift Project, Qatar Energy, Scope: Mechanical Structural, Piping & Equipment Erection, Gas Turbine & Compressor Installation and Commissioning. Reporting To: CEO / ED / Operations Client Steering Committee (as applicable) Direct Reports: Project Managers, Construction Manager, HSE Manager, QA/QC Manager, Planning/Contracts Manager, Commissioning Manager Role Purpose To provide overall leadership, direction, and accountability for the successful execution of the Qatar Energy Gas lift project, covering structural steel and piping erection, static and rotating mechanical equipment installation (including gas turbines and compressors), and support through mechanical completion and commissioning assistance delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with Qatar Energy standards and Qatar regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Delivery Own overall project delivery from mobilization through mechanical completion, pre-commissioning support, and handover, acting as the single point of accountability to the client and company senior management. Develop and maintain the master project execution plan covering engineering interfaces, procurement/subcontract packages, construction sequencing, and commissioning assistance milestones. Chair project steering committees and represent the company in senior-level meetings with Qatar Energy project management, PMC/PMT, and third-party stakeholders. Technical & Construction Oversight Direct execution of structural steel erection, above/below-ground piping, pipe rack and pipe support installation across the Dukhan oilfield facility scope. Oversee installation of static and rotating mechanical equipment, with particular focus on gas turbine packages and centrifugal/reciprocating compressor trains, including alignment, grouting, and mechanical completion activities. Direct interface management between mechanical erection teams and instrumentation/electrical contractors to ensure a clean, coordinated path to commissioning. Support and oversee commissioning assistance activities punch listing, mechanical run tests, pre-commissioning checks, and handover to the client s commissioning/operations team. HSE & Quality Champion an incident-free work culture; ensure full compliance with Qatar Energy HSEMS requirements, Qatar labour law, and international process safety standards relevant to live/adjacent oilfield operations. Ensure QA/QC systems, ITPs, and welding/NDE programs meet Qatar Energy specifications and international codes (ASME, API, ASTM as applicable). Commercial & Contract Management Manage project P&L, cost control, and cash flow; ensure the project meets margin targets. Oversee contract administration, variation orders, claims, and close-out in line with the EPC/construction contract with Qatar Energy. Manage subcontractor and vendor performance for structural, piping, and rotating equipment scopes. Planning, Reporting & Stakeholder Management Ensure robust project controls: schedule (critical path), progress measurement, cost, and risk management. Provide regular progress, forecast, and risk reports to executive management and the client. Manage relationships with Qatar Energy, PMC, third-party inspection agencies, and regulatory authorities (e.g., Ministry of Municipality, Kahramaa where relevant). Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering (or related discipline); PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred. 20+ years of experience in oil & gas EPC/construction projects, with at least 8 10 years in a Project Director / Senior Project Manager role. Proven track record delivering brownfield oilfield facility projects in the GCC, ideally with Qatar Energy, Qatar Petroleum, or comparable NOCs (Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, KOC). Strong hands-on background in mechanical construction scope: structural steel, piping (process/utility), and rotating equipment installation gas turbines and compressors specifically. Experience managing commissioning assistance/interface with client commissioning teams on live production facilities. Familiarity with Qatar Energy engineering standards (QGES/QP specifications), ASME/API/ASTM codes, and Qatar HSE and regulatory framework. Strong contract management experience (FIDIC or Qatar Energy standard contract forms). Prior experience working within or adjacent to live oilfield/brownfield facilities, including permit-to-work, isolation, and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) management.
