Job Summary
The Senior Manager Tax & Financial Controls operates under the supervision of the Head of Financial Controls and is responsible for Tax Compliance, Internal Controls on Financial Reporting (ICOFR), Cost Control Tower management, co-ordination with external / internal auditors and tax authorities.
Key Accountabilities
Tax Controls And Management
Ensure that monthly Withholding Tax statements are correctly prepared and submitted to Tax Office in a timely manner Review the Withholding Tax deduction process and recommend changes if any Work with the Project Management team on the VAT implementation and:Implement controls to ensure accurate calculation and reporting of VATEnsure that VAT statements are correctly prepared and submitted to the Tax Office in a timely manner Preparation of Corporate yearly tax returns for CB and Qatar subsidiaries – liaison with Tax advisors and translating their recommendations and changes into processes Complete the CBCR filling in coordination with external advisors Complete Transfer Pricing Master / Secondary file filing in coordination with external advisors for the Bank and with Alternatif Bank and their tax advisors for their filing requirements Provide tax advice and solutions on CBQ entities and new structures being set up as part of the CBQ Group Responsible for managing the Group’s information on the General Tax Authority (GTA) / QFC tax portals Represent the bank on Tax forums managed by Big 4 and Tax authorities Calculation of tax provisions for the quarterly/annual financials Preparation of OECD Pillar 2 returns for CB and Qatar subsidiaries.
Financial Control (ICOFR)
Implement controls around the consolidation process and the financial statements close process QFMA - ICOFR Lead for bank wide reviews of Process and entity-level controls – bank wide scope QFMA- ICOFR review and update of scope and testing. The ICOFR review includes testing and documentation of results as per industry standards for external auditor reviews and regulatory inspections as applicable. Liaison for External Audit on ICOFR and IT controls
Accounting & Reporting Controls
Act as backup for the Manager GL controls & Projects Preparation of Cash flow statement, IFRS 16 note, Staff Costs, IFRS 9-ECL note for stand-alone CB and Consolidated CB Financial Statements Co-ordinate with Alternatif Bank on the above notes and perform a review for consolidation.
Cost Control Tower (CCT)
Lead the CCT working committee, EXCO and GCEO approval process Co-ordinate with Businesses/other teams on structuring memos, providing relevant and accurate information, this includes understanding the nature of requests, budgetary and Bank’s procurement requirements Prepare a dashboard with memo summaries for the EXCO and GCEO approval
Collate information / statistics on all cases put to CCT and business for the bi-annual CCT performance review
Requirements
Qualifications:
Qualified Accountant: CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or Master’s degree in accounting & finance
Required Experience
8 - 10 years’ relevant experience in Finance in the banking sector This is a senior technical role and involves working independently with minimum supervision Leadership skills – managing a team of direct reports Specialised knowledge and experience in Tax implementation and compliance, ICOFR Controls, Cost control and Project Management etc. Hands-on experience in Accounting and Banking English language proficiency – Oral and written. Proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel & Power Point Presentations. Interpersonal skills – Able to interact with other functions in the department. Analytical and logical thinking – Able to demonstrate a strong reasoning capability. Pro-active with strong work ethic – Understand clear outcomes within general role objective. Teamwork – Able to work effectively within own team and with other stakeholders.
