Roles & Responsibilities
The Process Manager – Testing & Commissioning is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities for the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to ensure safe start-up, stable operation, and full compliance with contractual, process, and regulatory requirements. The role ensures successful performance testing and final handover of the STP to the Client.
Testing & Commissioning Planning
Develop and implement the STP Testing & Commissioning strategy, sequencing, and schedules.
Prepare and review commissioning plans, method statements, ITPs, and checklists for all STP process units.
Coordinate commissioning activities in line with construction completion and system readiness.
STP Process Commissioning
Lead commissioning of STP process units, including but not limited to:
Inlet works (screens, grit removal)
Biological treatment systems (ASP, MBR, MBBR, SBR or equivalent)
Secondary clarification
Tertiary treatment (filtration, disinfection – UV / Chlorination)
Sludge treatment systems (thickening, digestion, dewatering)
Odour control systems
Verify process performance against design parameters, effluent quality limits, and contractual KPIs.
MEICA & Interface Management
Coordinate commissioning of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) systems.
Ensure proper integration of process equipment with PLC/SCADA systems.
Manage vendor and package unit commissioning activities.
Performance Testing & Optimization
Lead wet commissioning, process start-up, ramp-up, and performance testing.
Optimize biological and chemical dosing processes to achieve stable operation.
Troubleshoot process upsets and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
Interface with Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, Operations, Vendors, Client, and Consultant.
Coordinate regulatory inspections, approvals, and acceptance testing.
Support Operator training and readiness for takeover.
HSE & Quality Compliance
Ensure all commissioning activities comply with HSE plans, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
Ensure commissioning complies with project specifications, local authority regulations, and international standards.
Documentation & Handover
Ensure completion and approval of commissioning dossiers, test reports, and as-built documentation.
Support preparation and finalization of Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
Facilitate final handover of the STP to the Client and Operations team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Commissioning or wastewater treatment certifications are an advantage.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience
Minimum 12–15 years of experience in Testing & Commissioning of STP / WWTP projects.
Proven experience commissioning biological wastewater treatment processes.
Experience in EPC / Design & Build STP projects is mandatory.
Skills & Competencies
Strong technical expertise in wastewater treatment processes and plant start-up.
Excellent coordination, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under live plant conditions.
Ability to manage multi-discipline teams and complex interfaces.
