Roles & Responsibilities
POSITION: Geotechnical Engineer
Technical & Engineering Duties
• Lead geotechnical site investigations, including borehole logging, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Act as the main link between the client, site, and the technical teams, ensuring effective
communication and timely issue resolution.
• Validate field data, prepare logs, and support accurate and complete technical reports.
• Perform geotechnical design and analysis (foundations, retaining structures, slopes, ground
improvement).
• Provide recommendations for foundation systems and ground improvement techniques.
• Coordinate with HGD for testing samples for the geotechnical Division and the schedule of
such testing.
• Oversee rock testing, ensuring proper sample handling, adherence to standards, and
equipment calibration.
• Supervise soil and groundwater sampling and support environmental data reporting.
• Coordinate with the external laboratories to ensure timely and organised testing results.
• Sign and approve testing work orders and reports for the laboratory on behalf of the
Geotechnical Division
• Assess geotechnical risks and propose mitigation measures.
Project Management
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Prepare project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time
Quality, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with local and international standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, Eurocodes).
• Implement QA/QC procedures for field and laboratory work.
• Attend different quality audits (ISO & internal audits)
• Understanding of ISO 17025, QA/QC procedures, and audit requirements
Leadership & Mentoring
• Provide technical guidance to site supervisors, junior engineers, geologists, and technicians.
• Review and validate work outputs of team members.
• Support training and development initiatives within the team.
Client & Business Development
• Support proposal preparation and tender submissions.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide technical advisory services.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
Experience
• Minimum 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering
• Experience in large infrastructure or construction projects
• GCC/Qatar experience is an advantage
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical investigation methods, testing methods, and data systems,
with awareness of international standards.
• Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., gINT, PLAXIS, GeoStudio)
• Familiarity with site investigation techniques and lab testing
