Roles & Responsibilities

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas, utensils, tableware, and cooking equipment. The role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen and F&B outlets by ensuring a clean, safe, and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, and pans.

  • Ensure the cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and workstations.

  • Collect and remove trash and recycling materials from designated areas.

  • Operate dishwashing machines and ensure they function properly.

  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals; report shortages.

  • Assist kitchen and service staff with setup and breakdown of buffets or banquets.

  • Follow hotel safety and sanitation policies, including proper chemical handling.

  • Sort and stack clean dishes; deliver them to proper storage areas.

  • Handle all equipment carefully to avoid breakage or damage.

  • Perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled (e.g., oven cleaning, grease traps).

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous experience as a steward or dishwasher in a hotel or restaurant is an advantage.

  • Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards.

  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and stand for long hours.

  • Team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills.
