The Technical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all maintenance, repair, and technical support activities for the crane fleet. This role manages a team of 10 electronic technicians and mechanics, ensuring optimal equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards to support uninterrupted operations for oil and gas sector clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management:
• Supervise and manage a team of 10 technicians and mechanics (electrical and mechanical specialists)
• Assign daily work orders, prioritize tasks, and monitor team performance
• Schedule shifts and rotations to ensure 24/7 technical support coverage
• Assist Recruit, onboard, and mentor technical staff as needed
Maintenance Planning & Execution:
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all 100 cranes
• Plan and oversee corrective maintenance, repairs, and overhauls
• Monitor maintenance activities to ensure timely completion and quality standards
• Coordinate urgent breakdown repairs to minimize equipment downtime
• Ensure availability of spare parts and consumables for maintenance activities
• Maintain optimal fleet availability to meet operational demands
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
• Provide technical expertise for complex mechanical and electrical issues
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective solutions
• Support field operations with on-site technical assistance when required
• Review and approve repair methods and procedures
• Ensure proper use of diagnostic tools and testing equipment
• Coordinate with OEM representatives for technical support, upgrades and warranty claims
Quality Control & Inspections:
• Conduct regular inspections of cranes to ensure operational readiness
• Verify completion and quality of maintenance work performed by technicians
• Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and industry standards
• Maintain Crane Third Party Testing Schedules and prepare cranes for certification testing
• Monitor equipment condition and recommend major repairs or replacements
• Ensure proper calibration of load moment indicators, safety devices, and control systems
Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Qatar Civil Défense regulations and Site HSE standards
• Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks for the technical team when required
• Investigate technical incidents, equipment failures, and prepare detailed reports
• Ensure technicians use appropriate PPE and follow safe work practices
• Maintain General HSE standards in workshopand site locations
Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain comprehensive maintenance records, service history, and equipment files
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly technical reports for management
• Document modifications, upgrades, and major repairs
• Manage technical documentation library including manuals, drawings, and procedures
Inventory & Workshop Management:
• Oversee spare parts inventory and ensure adequate stock levels
• Coordinate with procurement for timely ordering of parts and materials
• Manage workshop facilities, tools, and equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping practices in yard and workshop areas
• Ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous materials
Vendor & Supplier Coordination:
• Liaise with OEM representatives, suppliers, and service providers
• Coordinate third-party inspections and certifications (e.g., annual inspections TUV Certifications)
• Negotiate service contracts and evaluate vendor performance
• Arrange for specialized repairs or services beyond in-house capabilities
Required Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Diploma in Heavy Equipment Technology/Automotive Engineering with extensive experience acceptable
Experience:
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance
• At least 5 years in a supervisory/leadership role managing technical teams
• Proven experience with mobile cranes (telescopic and lattice boom cranes)
• Background in oil and gas, construction, or heavy equipment rental industry
• Experience managing workshops and multi-disciplinary technical teams
Certifications & Licenses:
• Qatar/ GCC Driving License (Advantage)
Technical Knowledge:
• Expert knowledge of mobile crane hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Familiarity with major crane brands (Liebherr, Terex, Grove, Manitowoc, etc.)
• Understanding of load charts, capacity calculations, and structural integrity
• Knowledge of operations of Cranes, load testing procedures, and certification requirements
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
• Understanding of Qatar regulations and international Lifting standards

Communication:
