Contract Manager Job Responsibilities Responsible for end-to-end contract management, leading claims and variation processes, mitigating contractual risks, and supporting the commercial success of the project.1. Contract Administration & Compliance Manage the full lifecycle of contract administration in compliance with contractual requirements Interpret and apply:Ashghal Conditions of Contract FIDIC conditions Applicable Qatar laws and regulations Identify contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies2. Claims & Counter-Claims Management (Core Function) Identify entitlement for claims, including Extension of Time (EOT) and cost claims Lead the preparation and submission of claim documents Conduct delay analysis (e.g., Time Impact Analysis) Manage responses to Employer/Engineer’s counter-claims Support dispute resolution processes3. Variation Management Identify, evaluate, and manage variations (VOs) Prepare variation proposals and cost assessments Monitor approval and payment status of variations Ensure compliance with contractual procedures4. Contractual Correspondence & Communication Draft, review, and manage all contractual correspondence Ensure timely issuance of contractual notices and submissions Support negotiation and communication with Employer and Engineer Develop contractual strategies for key project issues5. Planning & Contract Interface Coordinate with planning engineers to:Identify delays and critical path impacts Support EOT submissions Link contractual entitlement with project progress6. Cost & Payment Support Review interim payment applications Support cost control and commercial management Track certified amounts and contract performance7. Subcontract Management Draft and review subcontract agreements Ensure back-to-back alignment with the main contract Manage subcontractor claims and disputes8. Risk & Dispute Management Maintain contract risk registers Support dispute avoidance and resolution (including DAB/arbitration preparation) Ensure proper record-keeping for claims and contractual matters9. Team Leadership Lead and manage contract/commercial team members Establish contract management procedures and templates Provide contractual awareness training to project staff Qualifications & Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or related field Experience8–15 years of experience in contract management for construction/infrastructure projects Proven experience in Middle East projects (Ashghal experience preferred) Strong familiarity with FIDIC Red Book or similar forms of contract Core Competencies Strong expertise in claims management (EOT and cost claims) Proficient in delay analysis techniques (TIA, window analysis, etc.) Excellent negotiation and contractual communication skills Strong written and spoken English (contractual correspondence is essential) Preferred Qualifications Previous experience on Ashghal projects Familiarity with QCS and Qatar construction environment Experience in dispute resolution or arbitration Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, PMP)
