Job Details

A Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing Linux-based servers and systems within an organization. The role ensures that IT infrastructure runs smoothly, efficiently, and securely to support business operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems such as Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, or Debian.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability of servers.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.
  • Perform system updates, patches, and security configurations.
  • Monitor server logs and troubleshoot system, network, or application issues.
  • Manage file systems, storage, backups, and recovery procedures.
  • Configure and maintain web servers, databases, and other application services on Linux systems.
  • Implement system automation using shell scripting or tools such as Bash, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Maintain system security by applying firewalls, intrusion detection, and other security practices.
  • Support virtualization and cloud platforms when required.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaborate with development, networking, and IT support teams to resolve technical issues.


Skills

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
  • Experience with server administration, networking, and system monitoring.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of security practices, backup solutions, and system performance tuning.
  • Experience with web servers (Apache, Nginx), databases, and virtualization technologies is an advantage.
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
