Head of Communication & Public Relations

Purpose: The Head of Public Relations, Communication, and Media in the Oil and Gas sector plays a critical role in managing the organization's external communication strategies, public relations initiatives, and media relationships. This position is responsible for enhancing the company's reputation, communicating its mission, and ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders within the highly specialized oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Communication:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies tailored to the unique needs of QAFAC
  • Ensure alignment of communication efforts with the organization's business objectives with the aim of projecting the right image of the company through various forums and media
  1. Media Relations:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key industry media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases, industry briefings, and relevant materials. Web Page creation
  • Monitor industry news and trends, staying updated on developments affecting the company and the sector.
  1. Crisis Communication:
  • Develop and execute crisis communication plans specific to the oil and gas industry.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson during crisis situations.
  • Provide media training to key company personnel.
  1. Public Affairs and Government Relations:
  • Engage with government agencies, industry regulators, and policymakers to influence and advocate for policies that impact the oil and gas sector.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory changes relevant to the industry.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and manage relationships with stakeholders including investors, industry partners, community groups, and NGOs.
  • Communicate the company's corporate social responsibility efforts and sustainability initiatives.
  1. Internal Communication:
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies to engage and inform employees, ensuring alignment with the company's mission and goals.
  • Create and distribute internal newsletters, announcements, and updates.
  1. Content Creation:
  • Oversee the development of specialized content for industry publications, websites, social media, and internal communications.
  • Ensure content adheres to industry-specific standards and regulations.
  1. Budget Management:
  • Develop and manage the department's budget, optimizing resource allocation for maximum impact. Anticipate costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of communication professionals, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  1. VIP Visitors:

· Implement all protocol requirements relating to VIP visitors and delegations to the company as per pre-set guidelines and accompany them on their visits as required.

11. Events and Functions:

· Organize ceremonies, functions and events for company personnel and external entities from time to time as part of the overall strategy for quality communication and public relations. Coordinate sporting activities and encourage participation by QAFAC employees.

12. Budgeting & Cost Control:

· Direct the preparation of the Public Relations department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.

13. Policies & Procedures:

· Direct the development and oversee the implementation of operational policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Public Relations activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years Extensive experience in senior communication or public relations roles within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of industry-specific regulations, trends, and challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant communication tools and software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
