Civil/Structural/Marine Engineering Specialist

Brunel Oil and Gas Services WLL is organizing a campaign in Indonesia in Q4 2023 for a major client in Qatar. We will be conducting face-to-face interviews with the shortlisted candidates who are available in Indonesia.


Candidates who are in nearby countries (Singapore, China, Vietnam, Thailand) and are able to attend the campaign are welcome to apply. This is for a 3-year contract on a Direct-Hire Status and is renewable.


Your Tasks


  • Provide technical expertise in civil & structure align with Standards, Specifications and procedures to meeting project objective.
  • This role is technically responsible for project Offshore Marine Structural Engineering for performing assessment, FEED, Detailed Engineering, specialized engineering studies, development, coordination, and implementation of structures, developing guidelines, oversees project Structural engineering, to assure that the subsea project objective is met.
  • Reports to Engineering Lead. an age the Structural Engineering for all project structures activities and ensure full compliance to Company procedures.
  • Provide technical expertise support to Project Team on FEED to detail design, construction, and installation phases.
  • Prepare Conceptual Study, Design Basis, and civil/structural/infrastructure design as per
  • Company Specifications and International Codes such as BS, OCIMF, PIANC, ISGOTT, ASCE, ACI, AISC, AASHTO, USACE, UBC, API, AWS and Qatar National Construction Standards.
  • Develop steel structures detailed drawings. Perform all the necessary calculations as per the applicable codes along with computer analysis software like STAAD for onshore and SACS for offshore.
  • Perform Structural integrity checks for existing offshore/onshore structures due to change and check design loading conditions.
  • Provide structural engineering support for project team, operational, maintenance, Subsea pipeline integrity and external interface issues for offshore subsea structures, including technical and risk-based evaluation of issues.
  • Update, develop and issue Offshore Subsea Structures Reports, outlining the detailed assessment, activities and status.
  • Support underwater inspection of offshore structures, including UWI scope, anomaly criteria, execution support, report review and anomaly assessment/follow-up.
  • Evaluate surveys and NDT inspection results and assess fitness for purpose for the Subsea Structures and perform fitness for purpose studies.
  • Closely support pipeline structural integrity activities, inspections and assessments (executed by other groups) and ensure a comprehensive understanding of the overall structure.
  • Prepare and provide inputs to the Subsea Structures planes.
  • Identification of non-conformances that should be added to Issues List, Arrange Tracking and reporting the status.
  • Performs Management of Change reviews, participates in incident investigations, and develop and organize training. Developing Management of Changes (MOC) or conceptual study which to include design option solutions that complies with Company specs and International Codes & Standards.
  • Assist with submissions and presentations to Management and regulatory authorities to assure that the technical status is known, and challenges are being addressed.
  • Participate in design and SHE reviews (HAZOPs, HAZIDs, risk assessments), failure assessments and RCFAs.
  • Lead technical expertise to the project Subsea Lifting and Structures.
  • Perform necessary studies to support the development and/or understanding of new subsea technologies and up to date best practice reliability techniques are applied.
  • Liaise with consultants or shareholders, represent Company and conduct technical presentations and lead technical meetings.
  • Prepare Marine Structural Engineering tender packages for EPC phase and conduct technical bid evaluation.
  • Engineering Software capabilities: SACS and STAAD & (Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, reports and presentations) Subsea structure analysis and design
  • Provide material take off and bill of material.
  • Develop Design basis, repair basis for pipeline repair.
  • Develop Pipeline repair methodology including different repair methods with details of hat equipment and planning required to carry out the scope safely Lead and participate in Design Reviews such as Design Risk Assessments (DRA), HAZID and Constructability
  • Review including action items are closed by liaising with relevant stakeholders.
  • Review of Under Water Inspection report and advise mitigation plans for anomalies.
  • Tender engineering support with emphasis on document review, preparation of subcontractor documents, CTR preparation, bid evaluation and vendor selection.
  • Support Subsea projects and address various requirements for procurement, design and installation.
  • Engineering/analysis.
  • Assume responsibility for technical reports, design calculations, engineering analysis and interface with Contractors, verification bodies and internal/external Stakeholders.
  • Required to attend and prepare for project progress meetings and departmental meetings.
  • Experience related to design and analysis of subsea aspects including pipeline risers, pipeline, subsea structure and umbilical.
  • Experience with industry standard software packages for design and installation analysis.
  • Following Design activities shall be performed.


Your Profile


  • B.Sc. degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
  • 15 years’ experience in oil & gas sector with Minimum 10 years
  • focused experience specifically in Marine Structural Engineering
  • Significant knowledge on subsea structure, failure mechanisms and corrosion controls.
  • Experienced in inspection methods and technologies offshore structures intervention/repair (including EPRS).
  • Experienced in the FFS relevant codes and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge and Computer literate with knowledge of structures engineering analysis tools and software.
  • Extensive experience in structural engineering and analysis of offshore and subsea steel structures.
  • Strong Technical and Business Skills and experience in the areas of structural
  • management, offshore structural design aspects, corrosion management, structural inspection and maintenance/repair.
  • Proficient written and spoken English.
  • Ability to lead and function with a design team and across multiple projects is essential.
  • Produces work of presentable quality
  • Knowledge of DNV & ASME codes and standards for Subsea
  • Structural Systems and Repair
  • Review Technical Queries and Technical deviations from Contractors and ensure deviation to Company
