We are working with a Major Maritime operator in Qatar to source a Cost / Financial Controller. As a Cost/Financial Controller for the project, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of the project. Your primary role will be to monitor project costs, analyze financial data, and provide strategic guidance to optimize financial performance. You will collaborate with project teams, senior management, and accounting professionals to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management specific to the Project. Your objective will be to provide valuable insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making and enhance the project's financial efficiency and profitability.

Title: Cost / Financial Controller

Start Date: Negotiable (typically within 1 month notice)

Duration: 13 Months.

Location: Doha - Shipyard - 6 Days

Minimum Qualification/Experiences/Skills Required

  • Education & Professional Qualification: A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, or Marine Engineering) is preferred., or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Previous experience in design engineering or drafting for Projects or similar offshore structures is advantageous.
  • Market Knowledge:
    • Strong technical drawing skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Knowledge of drafting techniques, standards, and best practices relevant to Project design.
    • Understanding of design principles and engineering concepts specific to Projects.
    • Familiarity with naval architecture and marine engineering principles, particularly related to Project design, is preferred.

  • Geographic Experience: GCC Market is Preferable
  • Communications & Presentation Skills:
  • Ability to interpret and translate design concepts into comprehensive and precise drawings for Projects.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams involved in Project projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in the context of Project design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to propose innovative solutions specific to Project design challenges.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Project Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Develop and maintain the project budget for the Project, considering all financial aspects, including procurement, construction, installation, and operational expenses.
  • Monitor project costs, analyze expenditure against the budget, and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Implement effective cost control measures, such as expense monitoring, cost allocation, and cost reduction strategies specific to the Project.

Financial Reporting And Analysis

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for the Project, including project financial statements, cost analysis, and variance reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis to monitor project performance, identify trends, and provide insights into key financial metrics related to the Project.
  • Collaborate with accounting professionals to ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal financial policies for the Project.

Financial Forecasting And Risk Assessment

  • Develop financial forecasts and projections for the Project based on historical data, industry trends, and market analysis.
  • Assess financial risks and uncertainties specific to the Project, such as inflation, exchange rates, and market volatility, and provide recommendations to mitigate potential impacts.
  • Monitor and analyze key financial indicators related to the Project to identify potential risks and opportunities.

Cost Estimation And Pricing

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate cost estimates for the construction, installation, and maintenance of the Project.
  • Review and analyze pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability of the Project.
  • Provide financial input and support during contract negotiations, vendor selection processes, and procurement activities related to the Project.

Financial Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve efficiency, and enhance financial controls specific to the Project.
  • Implement financial software systems or tools to automate processes and facilitate accurate financial reporting for the Project.
  • Continuously review and update financial policies and procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements for the Project.

Financial Decision Support

  • Provide financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making related to the Project, including investment evaluations, cost-benefit analyses, and financial feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate with project teams and senior management to evaluate and optimize project financial performance.
  • Assess and provide financial recommendations for potential modifications or enhancements to the Project.
