About the Role
To manage and oversee the remote-control team, operations, ULD, cage systems and external locations, ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively with a focus on system availability for operations, safety and security. Develop and present plans and contingencies to the Line Managers and Senior Management, ensuring that the preventive and corrective maintenance tasks are carried out as agreed with stakeholders in a timely manner, without causing any operational disruptions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain 100% safety, security, punctuality in all aspects of freight handling through proper monitoring of staff and conducting daily briefings in order to achieve and maintain safety, security, SLA and KPI targets.
- Manage and act on performance reports, including system discrepancies, safety and security incidents, and disseminate important information to Cargo management and relevant stakeholders with corrective/preventive action plans.
- Ensure proper communication and timely updates to Cargo management and relevant stakeholders regarding system faults, maintenance, system performance, and planned and unplanned shutdowns.
- Plan and coordinate contingencies for upcoming shutdowns and planned preventive maintenance, ensuring effective communication of plans and contingencies to operational management teams.
- Develop an annual planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedule in coordination with relevant stakeholders, adjusting plans based on cargo trends and operational peaks.
- Champion the establishment of a Safety Management System in the organization in order to attain and maintain the safety standards of QAS Cargo.
- Ensure all company operating procedures are effectively followed by the RC team, with SOPs regularly reviewed and aligned with business/operational requirements and best practices.
- Oversee and ensure timely execution of planned maintenance tasks as agreed with stakeholders, without causing operational disruptions.
- Enhance workforce effectiveness and efficiency through learning, development plans, and training.
- Contribute ground handling expertise and industry best practices for all ongoing and future cargo related projects.
- Drive continuous improvements in RC desk operations, system performance, and process enhancements to increase productivity and accuracy in line with business requirements/objectives, and implement appropriate action plans to enhance performance and mitigate risks.
- Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department
Qualifications
About you
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with no prior experience
- CWIS/WMS & CROAMIS knowledge within the GHA/Airline industry
- Relevant and advanced level courses from recognized establishments within the field of Aviation, Cargo and Freight Operations, Warehousing and Cargo Handling.
- Cargo operations/handling experience, Cargo products and Cargo Warehouse Management System knowledge.
- Good decision making, Team management and strong communication skills
- Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
Preferred
- Knowledge of ground/cargo handling operational procedures
