Purpose

The Scheduling & Dispatching Supervisor will optimize bus scheduling and dispatching operations, ensuring timely, efficient & reliable services that meet operational requirements and passenger demand.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bus schedules to meet operational needs and passenger demand, utilizing scheduling software and considering factors like traffic, road conditions, and passenger volumes
  • Oversee real-time dispatching of buses to assigned routes, ensuring adherence to schedules and adjusting dispatching as needed to minimize delays
  • Minimize delays and manage disruptions by implementing contingency plans, developing backup strategies for incidents like accidents, weather events, or mechanical issues
  • Analyze scheduling and dispatching data to identify improvements in efficiency, reviewing key performance indicators like on-time performance and schedule adherence
  • Collaborate with depot teams to ensure seamless service delivery, sharing scheduling and dispatching information and coordinating efforts
  • Coordinate with traffic management centers to optimize route planning, sharing real-time traffic data and adjusting routes to minimize congestion
  • Develop and maintain bus scheduling and dispatching protocols, establishing procedures for scheduling, dispatching, and managing disruptions
  • Conduct regular schedule audits to ensure accuracy and efficiency, verifying schedule adherence and identifying areas for improvement
  • Implement technology solutions to enhance scheduling and dispatching, utilizing tools like GPS tracking, automated scheduling, and real-time passenger information
  • Provide training and support to dispatchers and scheduling staff, ensuring understanding of policies, procedures, and technology systems to optimize bus operations


Minimum Required Qualifications, Certificates & Skills


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field


Work Experience

2+ years of experience in transportation scheduling, dispatching, or operations management


Certificates & Trainings

Certified Transportation Scheduler (CTS), Advanced Public Transportation Operations (APTO) Certification or equivalent is a plus


Skills

Strong understanding of Scheduling & dispatching software (e.g., Trapeze, RouteSavvy), Operational management & logistics, Data analysis & problem-solving
