Relationship Manager- FI

The Relationship Manager- Financial Institutions will be responsible for driving profitability and ensuring accountability by growing revenue through effective relationship management and account retention with correspondent banks and financial institutions. This role will adhere to regulatory requirements, service level agreements (SLAs), and internal guidelines. The incumbent will facilitate new account transitions and support the management of existing accounts, coordinating closely with relevant internal stakeholders.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Build and maintain a network with financial institution customers to identify opportunities in trade and treasury lines.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to support business growth initiatives.
  • Develop strong relationships with foreign banks and FI clients, leveraging up-sell and cross-sell opportunities for products and services.
  • Manage partnerships with new correspondents for facilitating inward/outward business flows in payments, trade finance, and risk participation.
  • Oversee the establishment of new credit lines and renewal of credit limits for correspondent banks within the assigned territory; review credit proposals before submission for approval.
  • Collaborate with the Section Head and internal audit team to ensure that robust internal controls are maintained during account opening and closure processes.
  • Ensure the accurate processing of customer instructions and documentation for financial facilities, complying with risk and audit mandates.
  • Conduct reviews of high-risk accounts, assist in due diligence processes, and ensure compliance with KYC and AML regulations.
  • Manage relationships with international financial institutions, addressing their international banking requirements.
  • Review and strengthen existing relationships with banks and financial institutions in the assigned region to enhance business reciprocity and income generation.
  • Collaborate with various internal departments (e.g., Treasury, TFD) and external financial institutions to ensure all required details and recommendations are provided accurately and timely on the necessary forms.
  • Provide clarifications or corrections regarding incomplete information and guide the completion of credit applications within set turnaround times.
  • Identify potential markets and financial institutions in the assigned regions and establish relationships to support business development initiatives.


Educational Qualifications, Experience & Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Banking, Finance, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree in Management or a related field is advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the financial services or banking industry, with a focus on the specified discipline.
  • Extensive experience in international and correspondent banking.
  • Strong knowledge of structuring and financing recommendations tailored to client needs.
  • Proficiency in analyzing cash flows, income statements, balance sheets, and working capital requirements.
  • Expertise in identifying client banking needs, cross-selling opportunities, and acquiring new clients.
  • Ability to maintain corporate client relationships and prepare detailed credit proposals, including structuring credit facilities.
  • Strong analytical, data management, and financial statement analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, processes, and practices.
