People Safety & Health Manager

Qatar Airline - Qatar - Doha

Qatar Airways Health and Safety department is seeking a qualified and experienced manager to be part of the “World Best Airlines’ safety team. As People Safety and Health Manager, the primary focus will be on people safety, ensuring compliance with local regularity authorities, QR OHS standards and international best practices to maintain safety of Qatar Airways staff, passengers and facilities.

In this role you will be expected to:

·         Manage a team of health and safety specialists.

·         Manage the internal audit process including but not limited to planning, resource allocation, conducting audits, preparing audit reports identifying potential risks, recommending corrective actions within the scope of ISO 45001:2018 certification.

·         Conduct/lead incident investigations to determine root causes to prevent future occurrences.

·         Develop, implement and review emergency procedures.

·         Develop OHS training programs and toolbox sessions for employees and contractors.

·         Engage in development and implementation of promotional campaigns and safety communication programme.

·         Review, update and maintain all OHSMS related documentation.

·         Collate and prepare quality data to be presented across various forums.

·         Conduct, participate and manage OHS and Fire risk assessments for the department.

·         Providing advice that feeds into decisions on safe building occupancy levels, fire evacuation plans etc.

·         Conduct regular review of emergency action/response plans and fire evacuation strategies.

Qualifications

Candidates with the following background and qualifications will be considered for this position:

Qualifications and Certifications:

  •        Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 8 Years of job-related experience.
  •         NEBOSH Diploma In Health and Safety / NEBOSH IGC or equivalent.
  •         Lead Auditors in ISO 45001: 2018.
  •         Qualifications in Fire Safety.

Job Specific Skills:

  •          Command of English language.
  •          Excellent understanding of Health and Safety principles and clear understanding of ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
  •          Good understanding of the principles of fire safety as detailed by the National Fire Protection Association [NFPA] guidance material.
  •          Fluent in both written and spoken English with knowledge of Arabic being beneficial.
  •          Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different nationalities and cultures.
  •          Good grasp of report writing with attention to business writing and speaking requirements.
  •         Excellent IT / PC Literate particularly in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  •          Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.
