Role Description The Blasting Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising controlled blasting operations in compliance with safety regulations and Ministry of Interior standards. This full-time, on-site role is based in Doha, Qatar, and involves coordinating with field teams, security personnel, and other technical staff to ensure safe and efficient blasting activities. Day-to-day tasks include preparing blasting plans and technical drawings, conducting site inspections and risk assessments, calculating charges and blast patterns, and overseeing the safe handling, storage, and disposal of explosives. The Blasting Engineer monitors blast performance, documents results, and prepares reports while ensuring strict adherence to environmental, safety, and legal requirements. The role also involves participating in incident investigations, contributing to continuous improvement of procedures, and providing technical guidance and training to relevant personnel.
Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong technical expertise in blasting engineering, including blast design, charge calculations, and familiarity with relevant explosives and detonation systems. Candidates should possess skills in safety management and risk assessment, including knowledge of explosives legislation, permitting processes, and emergency response procedures. Candidates should possess practical field skills such as site surveying, reading technical drawings, and coordinating operations with multidisciplinary teams on-site. Candidates should possess analytical and documentation skills, including report writing, data analysis, and use of engineering or blasting design software. Candidates should possess strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with security services, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Relevant bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, civil engineering, explosive engineering, or a closely related field; advanced certifications in explosives or blasting are an advantage. Prior experience in blasting operations in mining, construction, demolition, or military/defense environments, preferably in compliance-focused or government settings. Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, and willingness to work in high-security, highly regulated operational environments.
