Roles & Responsibilities

Etqan Global Academy is looking to recruit a School Counsellor (Female) to join our team in Doha, Qatar. Etqan Global Academy (EGA) is a values-driven IB World School in Doha, Qatar, offering the PYP, MYP, DP and IBCP. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate female School Counsellor to provide holistic counselling support across all phases of the school, combining social-emotional wellbeing support with academic and university guidance for our diverse and ambitious student community.

The role: We seek an individual to join as School Counsellor where your focus will be:

  • Providing individual and small-group counselling support to students across all phases Early Years, Primary and Secondary addressing social, emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs
  • Identifying students who may be experiencing difficulties and implementing timely, appropriate and culturally sensitive support plans
  • Providing comprehensive university counselling to DP and IBCP students, including guidance on applications, personal statements, and destinations across Qatar, the UK, USA, and internationally
  • Supporting MYP students in subject selection and academic pathway planning
  • Organising and facilitating university visits, careers fairs, higher education events, and parent workshops
  • Building strong, professional relationships with parents and families, communicating proactively about student wellbeing and academic progress
  • Acting as a key member of the school's safeguarding team and maintaining accurate, confidential records of all counselling interventions
  • Contributing to whole-school wellbeing initiatives, workshops, and awareness campaigns

Desired Candidate Profile

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Counselling, School Counselling, or Educational Psychology, and membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, ACA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a school counselling or student support role
  • Experience providing both social-emotional counselling and university/academic guidance
  • Knowledge of university application processes for Qatar, UK, USA, and other international destinations
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements in an international context
  • Excellent cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a warm, empathetic and culturally sensitive approach
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Arabic language skills desirable
  • Experience working in Qatar or the Middle East, and within an IB school (desirable)
