MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN – OIL & GAS
Job Summary

Mechanical Technician responsible for installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of mechanical and rotating equipment in oil & gas facilities. Ensures safe and efficient operation of pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, and associated systems in compliance with industry standards and site procedures.

Key Responsibilities


• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and generators

• Carry out installation, dismantling, alignment, and reassembly of mechanical equipment

• Inspect and service industrial valves (gate, globe, ball, control valves) including gasket replacement and leakage rectification

• Conduct equipment troubleshooting and fault diagnosis to minimize downtime

• Execute shutdown and turnaround maintenance activities as per schedule

• Perform precision measurements using tools like vernier caliper, micrometer, dial gauge, and alignment tools

• Maintain and service piping systems, flanges, fittings, and mechanical seals

• Carry out lubrication, oil changes, and condition monitoring of mechanical systems

• Assist in testing, commissioning, and performance verification of equipment

• Follow PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO, and safety procedures strictly

• Maintain proper maintenance records and reporting documentation

• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades for smooth execution of work

Requirements

Requirements


• Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Oil & Gas / Power Plant / Industrial maintenance

• Hands-on experience with pumps, compressors, turbines, and valves

• Experience in shutdown projects is an advantage

• Valid certifications (if required): H2S, PTW, Confined Space, Working at Height
