Environment Regulatory and Compliance Lead


Job Location: Qatar


Job Purpose:


Lead environmental permitting and provide advice on programs compliance in accordance with all applicable environmental regulatory requirements to support company operations and maintain a compliant operating environment.


Key Responsibilities:


- Advise the company on environmental permitting, compliance, and sustainability, offering technical expertise in the development of new processes, techniques, and regulations.


- Identify and advocate alternate company-focused positions to promote business interests.


- Lead the development and implementation of environmental compliance assessment programs, maintaining regular contact with Operations and Engineering to address compliance issues and regulatory matters.


- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in developing policies on environmental and sustainability matters, solving complex problems with significant environmental impact.


- Provide input and support for greenhouse gas (GHG) flaring strategies and data updates for corporate KPIs.


- Advise on regulatory requirements and emerging global environmental issues.


- Guide the preparation and management of applications to government regulatory authorities pertaining to environmental and waste management matters.


- Provide SME guidance in areas such as environmental regulations, sustainability management, public collaboration, partnerships, and environmental awareness.


- Prepare and steward the company's strategic environmental plan in alignment with corporate vision and mission, including maintaining an ISO 14001-based Environmental Management System (EMS).


- Lead project environmental studies, including Environmental Baseline Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, and marine/environmental surveys.


- Oversee the timely submission and renewal of environmental permits for operating facilities and projects as required by regulators.


- Lead environmental risk assessment processes and support HAZOP and ENVID studies, ensuring environmental risks are properly managed.


Qualifications:


- Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental studies, or a science discipline.


Requirements:


- Minimum of 10 years' experience in the oil and gas, process, or petrochemical industries, with at least 5 years in an environmental management role.


- Strong knowledge of international environmental standards and regulations and best practice management.
