The Project Engineer will assist the Package Lead and Project Management team in administering the project management and construction supervision functions across the day-to-day activities on a large project. The Project Engineer will participate in review and approval of all submittals and shop drawings by the contractors and will be involved in quality control and quality assurance by undertaking daily site inspections and witnessing testing & commissioning.
Under the direction and guidance of the Package Lead and Project Management team, performs daily site inspection tasks to confirm the compliance and quality of the construction works by contractors. Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, specifications and contract drawings/ shop drawings. Document non-conformances and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Oversee and inspect all construction work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
- Follow-up with the contractors’ construction and quality assurance & control team.
- Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction work and monitors it for improvement.
- Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests on a daily basis.
- Support the Lead Engineer in reviewing construction submittals, shop drawings, method statements, as-built drawings, o & m manuals, spare parts etc., from project construction commencement to close-out including defects liability period.
- Collaborates with project and construction management team to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of project team/ stake holders.
- Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
- Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
- Witnessing the quality control testing as necessary.
- Witnessing the Testing & Commissioning tasks.
- Monitors the physical progress percentage and report to the Package Lead/ Planning Lead/ Quantity Surveyor.
- Organizes the accumulation of assigned discipline data for the final project turnover and report.
- Initiates and maintains records, back charge procedures, progress reports, etc., as required.
- Provides comment and status on the work inspection requests, organize to release to the contractors in timely manner.
- Comply with Internal KPIs for timely site inspections and releasing of inspection comments.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Degree in relevant Engineering disciplines (minimum four years course or longer) – Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics (for ELV systems).
- Minimum of 10 to 12 years postgraduate years of work experience and a minimum of 5 years of work experience in GCC countries.
- MME registration in Qatar is preferred.
