Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team in Qatar. 

This internship-level role offers hands-on experience supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in a fast-paced clinical environment. 

The ideal candidate is compassionate, patient-focused, and eager to develop practical skills in animal care, diagnostic support, and client communication while pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and gaining valuable professional exposure.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Prepare and sanitize examination rooms, anesthesia areas, and surgical suites; maintain sterile technique and proper equipment handling.
  • Record accurate patient histories, administer medications as directed, and monitor post-procedure recovery under supervision.
  • Collect and process basic laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces) and assist with diagnostic testing as directed.
  • Assist with radiographs and other imaging modalities under supervision, ensuring proper safety protocols.
  • Assist with client communication, scheduling, and education on routine animal care, nutrition, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain organized medical records, inventory management, and proper disposal of medical waste.
  • Support kennel duties, including animal handling, feeding, bathing, and safety adherence to animal welfare guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing training and demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply new clinical skills.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a veterinary-related program; demonstrated interest in veterinary medicine or animal sciences.
  • Strong interest in clinical veterinary care with a proactive, dependable attitude and good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to relate well with pet owners, animals, and team members.
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort with electronic medical records (EMR) systems; strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Current basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification is a plus; willingness to obtain as required.
  • Physical ability to lift and restrain animals as needed; comfortable with animal handling and exposure to animal-related hazards.
  • Immediate eligibility to work in Qatar and compliance with local licensing and regulatory requirements.
