Responsibilities:
- Design Safety Reviews / Studies, Layout, EERA, ESSA, F&G, Dropped Object, Hazardous Area.
- Ensure technical integrity of the Safety & Risk discipline’s deliverables through the implementation of checking and design review activities.
- Document key design decisions that may have a significant safety impact.
- Squad checking of deliverables
- Updating lessons learnt in the lessons learnt register.
- Undertake Fire and Explosion Studies and other Risk based studies consistent with Safety Case application. This includes Non Flammable
- Analysis Studies, Smoke Dispersion modeling, Escape and Rescue Modeling and Emergency System Vulnerability Assessments.
- Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
- Supports Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities and takes action where required.
- Manage safety design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
- Prepare and participate in weekly discipline meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
- Review and approve all related technical documents and coordinate with the Lead Engineer.
- Execute verification, studies and detail design following best engineering practices and optimization in term of cost, construction simplicity, operability and maintainability, HSSE.
- Complete Risk Assessments for clients using Excel spreadsheets or visual basic programs (SMORM & HARRI) developed by Worley Safety & Risk Management.
Quality
- Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.
Safety
- Responsible for personal safety safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures
- Promoting health, safety and environmental awareness.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
- MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage
Industry Specific Experience:
- Must have vast safety design in offshore oil & gas industry in a brownfield environment
- Must have solid experience in Technical Safety / Loss Prevention in the Oil&Gas Industry.
- Performs as a professional Safety & Risk engineer for projects and plant modifications from Front End Development through execution, commissioning and start-up.
- Recent experience in an engineering consultancy in a multidiscipline environment is essential.
Key area of expertise:
- Active Fire Protection (Firewater demand, hydraulic analysis, P&IDs, PFDs, etc)
- F&G layouts, C/E diagrams
- Passive Fire Protection
- Datasheets and specifications, MTO
- Hazardous Area Classification (Schedule and Drawings)
- Good knowledge of NFPA and International Standards for Technical Safety / Loss Prevention
- Safety Systems Gap analysis
- Consequence analysis (gas dispersion, toxic, fires, explosion, vent dispersion, flare radiation modeling)
- Risk Assessment and Process Hazards Analysis (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, SIMOPS)
- Safety Critical Elements and Performance Standards
- Risk Register / action follow-up and close-out
- ALARP assessment, Bow-ties, and Cost-Benefit analysis
- Client interface / Results presentation
